Do you know any offline English-Spanish Dictionary?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Artifacs, Nov 19, 2018.

I just post this in case anyone knew about some modern legally Downlable English and specially English-Spanish dictionary.
I got from Guttenberg.org the Webster's Unabridet 1913 English Dictionary.

My attemps to find an English-Spanish in plain text or epub have been in vain.

I have legal and medical Spanish/English specialty dictionaries I use for work, but they are iPhone apps. The same creator (Word Magic) makes a general Spanish/English dictionary as well as several others.

Also, are you on a Mac or a PC? Macs have built-in dictionaries that can be expanded for many different languages and you can configure the dictionary function to give you translations into other languages. I also work as a Russian/English translator, so I have mine set to give me Russian too. This function is not reliant on internet access.

Yet another reason I hate MS Word with its idiotic "Smart Look-Up Function". The irony... :bigmeh: It doesn't work offline y para colmo it manages to actively bypass the onboard dictionaries and spellcheck functions of a Mac that work in any program where typing is required.

@Wreybies. I quited MS long time ago (old Linux user here) but I want it for my crappy Android phone so I can check some words on the fly anywhere. Also I'd like it to be in plain text or epub, my kindle app crashes for some reason, no mobi for me. :(
I checked babylon (all binary files) and Gutenberg and bookfere for no avail.
I'll keep searching, though. Maybe someone knows somemething about it.

If it helps, the Spanish/English dictionaries I have on my iPhone seem to also be available for Android.

Gracias. I surfed the website and it seems all the dictionaries are too technical for my needs. I'm almost fine with the dictionary from 1913 except for the lack of phrsal verbs and expressions. I think I'll search for some free dictionaries first before try those.
