There's almost everything to recommend retirement. But every so often I still feel a twinge of yearning for the old excitement and challenge of the job. I was a consulting engineer, working on control systems mostly for the entertainment industry. My partner and I worked on shows for SeaWorld, Tokyo DisneySea, a couple of Las Vegas shows, Universal Studios, and some movies, TV, and commercials. Also some touring shows for musicians. I do NOT miss the pressure (I don't work well under tight deadlines), but the work was consistently interesting. Still, sleeping in whenever I want, and generally doing what I want when I want, is wonderful.
de-liver is my bit! I hadn't seen that anywhere before, but then I don't get out much, even the interwebs.
It's finally december I'm going to spend today with my parents. First off we're going shoe-shopping. It's my least favourite shopping by far, but winter is comming and my snow-worthy boots have hole right through them. Later I'm trying out making Baked Alaska! It's a trial-run for New Year's Eve, so it might go horribly wrong
Some of the best date nights I had involved Dominoes Pizza. It also tended to involve cold winter evenings, a big bed and blankets to snuggle in, and something to watch together - usually Lord of the Rings!
I like your style. And your HR technique is impressive, too. I'm with @Iain Aschendale. This scene wants to be incorporated into a book.
After over a month of on-again off-again service, AT&T finally sent the One Guy Who Works For Us Who Knows What The Hell He's Doing to fix my DSL. Took him five minutes and hasn't dropped a byte since.
Reminds me of my mother trying to get some issues with her internet fixed. She called support time and time again for at least a month, and they all gave the same stupid answers every time. Same advice over and over again, in spite of my mother trying to tell them that she had tried it all a dozen times over already. Eventually she somehow managed (might be due to unending rage and unpleasantries ) to get someone to put her through from the "have you tried restarting"-supports to the people that actually know something, and they found the issue within a minute...
This probably won't impress those across the Pond, but I'm very happy about paying $2.03 a gallon for gasoline today.
It would be interesting to know how long he continues to work for AT&T. People who know what they're doing often get much better paid jobs as soon as humanly possible.
I'm still here, still alive! Just been horribly addicted Fallout 76, I don't even know what the fuck I'm doing in the game. Mostly just resource Gathering and leveling up go to later areas. Because there's some fucked up shit there, that will fuck you up quick and proper. Also building my little Homestead, amidst the chaos, horrors of the Wasteland, and worst of all fellow players. LOL
I have re-established my crafting corner. I will enjoy the neatness for all of 30 seconds before I create unbridled chaos on it once more.
That's great, when I left the US in 2001 it was something like $2.25. Don't see an 18 year rollback very often, fill everything.
There's no portion of the Physical Fitness Test, even with the standards for my age, that I could pass at this point, but I just realized that for the last two days I have been under the maximum weight for a Marine my height! This is excellent news. Spoiler Which means I'm still a disgusting fatbody, but headed in the right direction. Lost 8.5 kilos/18 something pounds since September
My two youngest sisters are having a great time visiting London and other places in England. Never heard of this famous fossilist, though.
They are doing a tour! (Now someone's going to tell me my geography's off and Dorset is actually next to London.) I hadn't heard of Mary Anning until I went to Lyme Regis either. She's a fascinating woman. Did you know she was struck by lightning as a baby?
