So, as some of you may recall, my novel is a fantasy, with a setting loosely based off Medieval Europe. I have this army group called the Beast Riders, who, you guessed it, ride magical beasts (think hippogryph, pegasus, gryphon, unicorn, etc.) The Beasts (the magical ones, regular beasts aren't capitalized) live in the Beast Preserve until they bond with a Rider. On the equinoxes, the next group of wannabe Beast Riders is allowed to enter the Preserve in order to find and bond with a Beast. It's a big deal, and people gather outside the Preserve to wait and watch for their favorite recruit to come out with their new Beast, speculating and gossiping about what kind it will be. I've been calling this day "Selection Day" in my story so far, but I've never really liked that name. Can anyone think of a better-sounding name for this day?
Are the Beast and Rider bound to each other in some special way? Like shared perception, mental link or alike? Anyway, it would be cool if the name symbolized the relationship between them as a team. Since the Beast are the ones which actually make the choice, the name of that day could be in some common Beast language or bad translation of it. Later, some Beast can reveal the true meaning of that name or something...
They have a telepathic link through which they can convey a general sense of how they feel/what's on their mind, but not straight-out talking. More like an empathetic sense of the other.
That's great. It gives flexibility for the narration and mystery for their relationship. Here's some suggestions for the name of the "Selection Day" after this kind of bound: (1) Mystic Eye. (2) Soul Bound. (3) Mind and Heart. (4) Inner Vault. (5) Beast Path.
That depends on your preference. Some people, including me, like just one name that can refer to something on the story. But this sometimes can be difficult and maybe more than one word can convey the same, so I will suggest these names: . Magical Bond . Festival of the Beast . Beast Riders: The Joining . Beast Riders: Magical Bonding
The Day of Dragons? That may be a better title I guess. The Choice/Choosing? If they chose which beast they bond to. The Dawning? Just say it has to happen at the break of dawn.
