Okay, so you know how you count "one and two and...", and that's meant to be very close to actual time? Well obviously I count a lot slower.

Though I only did 3 very short planks yesterday, I actually felt better both psych and physical. Inspired, I did some more early this morn, reaching 30 secs.
Deciding to stopwatch them and it turns out today's planks are 50-60 secs long, thus yesterday's had to be at least 20 secs.

Been raining so can't check out metal at local dump, but pvc piping and joinery are all very cheap as free, so will plank, squat and half push-up in me room till I head back into Lonnie to get my pvc on at the hardware. 40mm for the paralletes and 50-55mm for the larger parallel bars.

And might borrow someone's arc welder to do the metal pull-up\chin-up bar.
Plus, in my head, parts of this can be bolted together. The welding is for the frame that fits over the wooden beam in the shed.

I'm catching up on some work only to discover that the government website I'm supposed to be interacting with is down. I was going to post this to the Not Happy Thread but I think it's beer o'clock, which should be in The Happiness Thread, except that my work remains unfinished and will haunt me again another day. It could be in the First world Whinging Thread but I've reached my personal limit for posting in that thread. That leaves this thread - not too hot, not too cold, just right!

 

Should try to sleep but can't settle down...

I've just finished reading the late Iain M Banks' Excession. I last read it about a decade ago. It's interesting how your perceptions change when you read the same book at different stages of life.

When I read it before, my kids were small and I was taken by the scenes where Dajeil kept her foetus unborn for 40+ years. This time around, I was more interested in the motivations behind the Minds and the various Mind faction interplays in the story (which were a moderately complex plot point).

My favourite one liner from the book was and still is:
