Wake up, and trudge 14 days to a year of age I didn't ask for. Hopefully get a job (big hope, but that is what it's for). Possibly finish and get my sequel novel e-pubbed before it rolls over the odometer into 2020. Start some other works, as well.
The usual suspects: Lose some weight Break 100 on some golf course. Publish something that I get paid for.
Finish my damn book? Maybe? I mean, it's not like I lack time, last day of work is just before Christmas, and the daffyducks will be blooming before I have to go back... Get on it, man!
1. Getting my finances fully settled, so I can save and do things I am desperate to. 2. I do need to get into some kind of exercise thing, but I hate exercise with a capital h. 3. Must start eating chicken and turkey, etc. 4. Getting out and meeting people? I've been here nearly three years and I know no one. 5. Maybe learn a new skill, probably something crafty.
1. Lose a lot of weight. (This is my time-honored first resolution every year.) 2. Write some decent lyrics and record the vocals for some songs I've had kicking around since high school. 3. Make another year's progress on my novel. 4. Submit some sci-fi short stories to magazines. This means I have to write them first. 5. Design and build my own ham radio transceiver. This involves, at some point, obtaining a ham license.
Finish a novel. Getting something published, somewhere. Eat better (healthier). Exercise more. Read more. Draw and paint more. Get out of my comfort zone more.
- Practice an improve my English with some short stories and notes. - Write something with more words if there's some time (maybe some non-pretentious novel just to clear the backlog up a little). - Exercise 30 min/day (I suspect this won't happen at that much rate). - Read more books.
1. Been publishing a book every year the last few years, so next year won't be an exception. In fact, one is near finished, so I'll try to have two books out next year. One around May, one around Christmas. I self-publish, btw. So no worries there. I don't need money, and prefer to have full control over my works. And thank to Facebook, advertising is easy enough. Post, share, and thousand will know of them right away. 2. I play a lot of video games, and need to stop pre-ordering them. I've pre-ordered a few games that comes out in January and February, but that's the last ones I'll pre-order in a long time. I hope. 3. Speaking of video games, I rarely finish any of them. I only play for fun. But next year, I'll try to finish more of the games I start. 4. And just for the hell of it, let's go with the eat healthier, excercise more, have a better social life, and all that crap we all know is doomed to fail.
Oh boy! Resolution season! I love how everyone here has said or likely will say something to the affect of "finish my WIP" or "FINALLY get something published." It's just kinda funny knowing that you're not the only one trying to gt to the end, maybe even struggling with creativity and/or productivity. lol Well, for me: 1. Buy URL and restart my blog 2. Learn to write good poetry 3. Discover the story that's been in the back of my mind for 3 years 4. Fall in love with myself 5. Build healthy relationships 6. Start consciously directing my life instead of waiting for open doors 7. Become a better magician/mystic 8. Save money for a trip out of the country 9. Live more creatively 10. Express myself!!
@Andrae! My gosh, my God is that an oxymoronic list? Maybe? I'll be back after dictionary corner. But - to me @me - I would consider a course of rigour and the rigorous usage of the English language. Firstly, you do not discover a story in the back of your mind. You're not a cupboard. And falling in love with yourself? What's that crap from the school of vacuosity? Y'know @Andrae I still love you @Andrae even as you hate yourself intensely. Healthy relationships? Another whole heap of vegan beans. Consciously directing your life instead of waiting for doors that are open? Do you want me to tell you to get off your backside, you slouch? Actually, your life changed the day I offered you that job because you were call number three and not the two or four. I was random that Tuesday at the bank. You are not a mystic, my yogi; and for living creatively and expressing yourself I am now posting the chicken suit of our fantasies, our PMs remember, back in 2015? All best buddy.
1. Burn down the house 2. Throw my computer in the sea. 3. Get dressed at the water's edge. 4. Then jump in - the sea. 5. Get rescued by the lifeboat 6. Subsequent media focus, probably on my blog 7. Serve short jail sentence 8. Write the prison handbook novel 9 Emerge to sunlight 10 Find religion, buy or steal a dog.
1. Join a university faculty and found a Department of @matwoolf Studies, in a formal and organized attempt to explain the contents of @matwoolf's brain. This will be a cross-disciplinary effort, incorporating specialists in psychology, philosophy, sports nutrition, biology, archaeology, and abstract art. It will be associated with the University of Edinburgh's Department of Porridge Science, just in case. 2. Undergo brain surgery to remove any tumors resulting from the activities of resolution 1 above.
I fell in love with myself once, but it turned out to be just a sex thing and it ended badly. We don't speak anymore.
First, I will say I am extremely surprised by this post... on many levels... I will PM you here shortly. as this is worthy of some deeper discussion... Second, I believe the word you are looking for is "paradoxical."
This is my New Year (okay, about half an hour early but still...). The sun is above the horizon. Resolutions? Find time to plot, find time to write. If that's possible we shall see.
