Your life is yours. Your job is not to make other people proud, but to make a decent life for yourself. Go ahead. Life is there, not in the past.
Trying to set up Speech Recognition on my laptop. You know, so I can do that dictation thing for my novel writing that all the cool writer-kids are talking about. Went through the whole tutorial and still have no idea how to actually turn it on, or if I can use it in word processing programs other than Notepad or Wordpad. And how come, when I had to say "OK" to confirm a command, the thing wouldn't take it unless I pitched my voice really low? Like if I said it in my normal voice it didn't think I meant it or something.
Decades ago I worked with some software that had its baseline recognition set from North American white male voices. I'd like to think that developers have expanded their initial sample pools, but...
Danish? If I remember my restless hitch hiking adolescence years right, they had many good small and local breweries in Germany and some of them had excellent dark beers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altbier https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_in_Germany
Just coming back in from running errands this morning. Plan on doing some cleaning today, and then deep diving into various projects.
This would be me, but without the Scottish accent, obviously! Me and 'smart technology' do not get on. At all.
Listening to some Irish music, Looking at flights for Christmas, and Planning my post visit schedule so as to distract myself from the inevitable depression that will try and descend on me.
Watching Italian cartoons without subtitles, as part of my education. I have no idea what the hell is going on with these magic princesses or what are they. Well, I guess there's just the one magic princess, or should I say principessa? There's some Hogwarts-ass business going on.
So glad I read this as I've been contemplating sharing 2 chapters from my book for feedback. What's the deal with sharing a few paragraghs paragrafts parrot-graphs para-draughts gaga-guffawks knives n forks bangers n mash Hulk smash Crash Bandicoot...it's 11:30, I'm over tired, can't sleep... ...What's the deal with sharing a few paragraphs?
Sporadic rain yesterday, so no mowing. Today. 5:30am 9 sets of cali...that's a painful hour, partially because this summer seems to be wet and we're having lots of muggy days. Had the fan running. Usually in summer I run the heater till about 7-8am But I feel good after my routine. I'm gonna stick with 9 sets for a while. Modify it when I get the gym set up. On hold as I won't be doing any pvc as the diameters aren't to my liking. Will be making the equipment out of wood and steel. 35mm is the optimal diameter for me. 8am Went for a ride, only a minute quicker, due to only 2hrs since WO, last time it was 4 hrs. I'm happy as long as I keep it under 40mins. 11.30am Mow yard. Consistent speed for the whole run. Barefoot still.......and loving it! 2:30pm Had a shower, took the clippings to the tip, looked for piping. Now sitting in ute having my 1st of 2 coffees. Haven't had one all week. Will reduce my coffee intake to a couple a week from now on. Wont be going for a ride this arvie...and will most likely have 2 rest days as I know I overdid it but just wanted to experience that.
Don't have to, play in the sandbox mode, and there is a little button that tells me the dimensions of the craft at it's largest points. Also has almost 1200 parts.
What do you think now? ˜puzzled˜ Am I? 1a.Yes, you may ask. 1b. I dunno, can you? 2. Post what, as I have no idea what this "it" is you're referring to? I recommend either ceasing this activity or change your attitude so you're no longer sickened...but only if you have no desire to be sickened of course, for in my travels I've met many folks like this... "People have a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar." - Thich Nhat Hanh ...to which I usually share this gem if a person is like this... ------------------------ A Sufi teaching tells of the man who visited a great mystic to find out how to let go of his chains of attachment and his prejudices. Instead of answering him directly, the mystic jumped to his feet and bolted to a nearby pillar, flung his arms around it and screamed, "Save me from this pillar! Save me from this pillar!" The man who had asked the question could not believe what he saw. He thought the mystic was mad. "Why are you doing that?" the man asked, "I came to you to ask a spiritual question because I thought you were wise, but obviously you're crazy. You are holding the pillar, the pillar is not holding you. You can simply let go." The mystic let go of the pillar and said to the man, "If you can understand that, you have your answer. Your chains of attachment are not holding you, you are holding them. You can simply let go." ----------------------- Fukn booyah level 9000...one of my all time fav eastern stories. You're most welcome Manuforti.
Elsewhere on the site someone asked the question "Does critique on this site count as publishing?" (or some variation thereof, which I've probably paraphrased). It's a sticky post, so it should be easy to find. I play it safer than most for two reasons that won't apply to most of the writers here: 1. Google dings people for "duplicate material" which can affect search results for a blog, author, etc. depending on what algorithm they're using at the time. Been there, done that, had to file an appeal with Google, don't want to ever go through that again. 2. When I was a web publisher, having some of my stuff "previously published" on another site made it a bitch to register our website copyright, and I had to submit original drafts to prove the material was my own, which delayed the copyright process tremendously. ETA: Being that I will likely self-publish, I don't want to go through that again. The third reason is the whole "first rights' issue with publishers, which is addressed in the Forum question above. There, opinions vary, but after my experience with 1&2 above, I play it super-safe. But, my experience is not yours, and yours is not mine, so your mileage may vary.
