My huge novel is under self publishing processes

    I was scrolling through the 'new author receives own book' genre - clips on the Youtube. But seems the master has beat me to it:

    and that's on a fairly unsaleable niche nonfiction book... she's not going to see anywhere like 8 big ones in royalties especially as she'll be splitting them with the company... who not only gouge you up front but also expect the sort of royalty split you'd have on a trad deal

    Plus they [the publisher] have zero idea about how to effectively market they are talking about press packs and mailing cold contacts - when they ought to be looking at amazon and facebook ads and the like ... the blurb they provided her was woeful... she's wound up paying a freelance pro to write her a better one, and its amazon only but not in KU, and has no extended distribution because that is 'extra'

    @matwoolf - funny :D

    @Moose - your friend will be so out of pocket by the time it all ends, but it's so easy when you don't know about forums like these. Actually I'd be surprised if the publisher in question will bother to do any marketing at all, from what I've heard about the vanity guys.
