Sheesh! How many wives did he have? 'Cause that's a heck of a workload on them. Unless he adopted a lot of them... Hmm.
just the one - such things were normal back then - he was a puritan so contraception wasn't really a thing
Two, I think, from a quick Google search, but not at the same time. It wasn't uncommon for people to have that many children. Of course, not all of them would survive to adulthood.
Under their fur, the skin of bi-color cats is the same as their fur. (I saw this phenomenon for myself when the vet had to shave my cat's arm for an IV. Her arm was white with an oval-shaped striped patch, and the skin underneath was pink with an oval patch of mottled brown.) (edited out unnecessary words)
Not sure if this counts, but I thought it amusing. A woman in New Orleans was arrested for assault, after her boyfriend tried to walk out on her. She took his prosthetic leg and beat him with it. Allegedly it was after a night of heavy drinking and an implication he was leaving her for a younger woman.
Some days research for a writing project goes a little too far. https://www.foxnews.com/us/records-writer-was-near-husbands-work-at-time-of-killing
In Turkey, it is a criminal offense to assert that Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was a Freemason. Spoiler: Political opinion I love Turkey and its people for many things, but the crime of lèse majesté, especially when applied to the dead, is simply ridiculous. GEORGE WASHINGTON WAS A POO-POO HEAD!
Faberge was like a factory or production company. It used several subcontractors. Young Finnish girl Alma Pihl was working in filing in one of these subcontractors. It was her uncles company. Uncle noticed that Alma was very skilful in drawing. Uncle decided to offer Almas works to his client - Faberge. Very soon Almas works started to get Faberge label. Alma designed about 2000 valuables to Faberge. Some of the most famous Faberge products are designed by Alma. Winter Egg, Mosaic Egg... She was the only female designer in Faberge. Alma escaped communist revolution to her home land Finland and lived the rest of her life as an unknown school teacher in Kuusankoski. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alma_Pihl https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_(Fabergé_egg) https://www.luismiguelhoward.com/blog/2017/1/18/faberges-snowflakes https://www.finlit.fi/fili/en/books/faberges-finnish-masters/
Justin Bieber has approximately as many people following him on Twitter as live in the eighteen least populous nations of the European Union.* *Greece, Czech Republic, Portugal, Sweden, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Slovakia, Ireland, Croatia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Cyprus, Luxembourg, and Malta. Edit: combined total, sorry.
Just goes to show how small some of those countries are. If New York city (the city, not the whole state) were admitted to the EU it would be the sixteenth most populous member.
Everybody laughed at Canada, and Canada would just apologize and laugh along with them. But really we were just biding our time, eh.
One thing I can't figure out is why we get all the famous Canadian Celebs? No one ever explained that part, but somethings will just have to be a mystery.
You don't get all of them. We did, after all, keep The Tragically Hip and Sloan. But likely its because The US has 10 time the population as Canada which naturally makes for a larger market.
I have mixed feelings about Faberge eggs, as they were such an ostentatious indulgence for the upper classes, at a time when ordinary Russian people were overworked and struggling. And some of the eggs were just ...bad taste. Overly ornate and fussy. This one, however. Now THIS one would be wonderful to own. It truly is beautiful, even just the egg and stand. The little basket of flowers is an exquisite prize. If it were just made of glass and gilt paint (rather than crystal and diamonds) it would be nice displayed in a window where it would catch the light ...and not be such a huge temptation to burglars! Lovely.
You can buy nearly original Winter Eggs from eBay. It is possible that quality and materials are not Faberge -level. But think about this young woman... 2000 Faberge designs before 26 years and after that never anything. She designed about 5 Faberge pieces of jewellery per week for years. Then... nothing, never. It's bit like if Rembrandt painted 2 000 masterpieces before the age of 26 and then stopped all painting. Alma Pihl is probably the most talented jewellery designer ever - in the whole stone ball.
