Funnily enough, I'm not allowed pets in my rental accommodation. The animals I talk to are garden birds, stray cats, and other people's dogs and horses. I have been known to say the odd few words to sheep, cows, donkeys etc in fields too.
Why would you turn right on a red light when we can all just sit here behind you waiting to die... #AHOLE - Andy Ostrom
That reminds me of something I heard (and I'd love to know its source): "God gave men a brain and a penis, and only enough blood to operate one of them at a time."
"To see what is right, and not to do it, is want of courage or of principle." - Confucius "You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage, pleasantly smilingly, non-apologetically, to say "no" to other things, and the way you do that is by having a bigger "yes" burning inside." - Stephen R. Covey "It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are." - E. E. Cummings
I agree...most...for Longshanks seems to percieve me as prey when I walk through the yard. On a bad day he'll draw a decent amount of blood from my lower legs as he relentlessly attacks me from door to gate. Often I have to stop and pull his claws out 'cus they're lodged in deep and he either can't retract them or he's enjoying the bloodlust.
"Good Sir, how much for the horse tornado, I must have it!" "That, Sir, is a carousel" No idea where I heard that but it still makes me laugh.
Have you tried validating him? Then again, he just might be batshit crazy. My Sister-in-law has a cat everyone but me is afraid of (including her). He got a lot friendlier to me after he bit me, and I kicked his ass down the stairs. He and I, now have an understanding.
Sorry, this was supposed to be an edit of the first post. But at least you see a bit of my editing process.
Never heard of this psych practice on animals so I have no idea what the practice entails. Some details would be helpful. He definitely has some soul issues. My interpetation thus far is he's insecure and\or has self esteem issues, thus he alpha male's Hunter. The Contessa treats all her pets in bizarre ways so my heart goes out to them all. Her two long term house dogs she had when I first arrived were sad and listless things. Like their spirits were crushed due to the long term psych torture. Perhaps he also has some animal version of Assburgers, as when he goes into attack mode, all good relationship history is turned off. Is this an example of validating?
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius, and a lot of courage, to move in the opposite direction." - Albert Einstein "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - Albert Einstein
id suspect that cat bit you because it thought you were dangerous, be reacting against it you validate its view by demonstrating that you are indeed a threat
