    Write down your dreams.

Discussion in 'Word games' started by Madman, May 19, 2019.

This might be a difficult prompt. Dreams can move around a lot and sometimes they do not make much sense. So it will be a challenge, but please try!

    - Write down your dreams as you remember them.
    - Write them like a story.
    - One dream per post.
    - It has to be a dream you have dreamt while sleeping.
    - You can fill out blanks with your own creativity, but try to keep as close to the original dream as possible.
    - It can be your latest dream or one that you have remembered for a very long time.
    - You can give as much detail as you want, or keep it short and focused.

I will start with an unusually normal dream for me. Most often when I dream, half the world dies or there is violence and disaster, but this time it was something more simple:

We quickly switched trains before they could catch us. Off to the next city! We arrived, the station looked busy and was crowded with people. There were many platforms. Trains were coming and going.
"Hurry!" she yelled and took my hand. We boarded another train.
The train moved and we suddenly found ourselves in a huge city. We started climbing one of the many white towers of the city. It had oddly well placed cylinders protruding from the building that made it easy to climb. Once we reached the top, we stood behind a holographic screen and watched the city life beneath us.
Vehicles, light, people, noise, wind, and life. Most importantly, life.
"They can all see us now," I said, as though I was a bit worried.
"I kinda wanted it like that," she said, not in a romantic tone, but in a heartfelt, sincere way. As though she was actually saying that it did not matter if they could see us. We were already at the top.
They would be too late to catch us.

Forgetting any recent dreams but as child dreamed that a shark caught me out of a pool of cement in the Bosveld bush. Just grabbed me from small pool, dragged me under. Oblivion. Wake up.

Had this dream 3 times as child.

I have some recurrent nightmares which I remember quite well. I often have the classic one, where it is essential to switch the light on and none of the lights in my room are working. Another classic (at least for me) is that there is a vampire in our basement. It is never one of the harmless kind, he is always ugly, bad and dangerous, and though I know he is there, I always have to go into the basement or there is something wrong with the door.

I had a dream last night where a meteor was coming to destroy the city I was in. We had to escape it by getting into a submarine, except the submarine was a basement that went down like eighteen stories. The worse part was that the submarine wasn't even in the water yet, and we had to get it there before the meteor hit. How the heck are you supposed to carry an eighteen story submarine into the water?

    Dreams are weird.

    Had a long one recently:

I walked with the group towards the great castle. We walked on a dirt road when suddenly, two people in the back of the group fell into a small pool of orange goo.

"Hold her up!" I yelled to the man who had fallen in with a little girl as the group scrambled around the pool.

We could see how the man struggled against the orange goo and held the little girl, raising her above the goo line as he himself slowly sank underneath.

"Do not let her sink in! Do not fight it!" one person from the group yelled.

It was too late, she sank into the orange goo together with the man. And then the goo faded away and revealed them both.

"We are fine," the man said with a wicked smile, the girl had the same, truly devilishly wicked smile. From ear to ear, a smile that did not cease.

We continued walking along the path into the castle. A woman from the group caught up with me as we entered the rocky gatehouse.

"We can't trust them anymore," she told me.

"I know," I said and looked back at the two who had fallen into the goo. They still had their wicked smiles.

The group boarded a spaceship and we travelled up into the darkness of space. We reached a giant orb made up of lines, it was surrounded by a wall of glass. We breached the
glass with our ship and the fleet was already inside. The orb destroyed everything. No ship was left hole. The lines were moving around inside the orb at a rapid pace. It was
    angry.

"It destroyed everything!" I yelled as I jumped from one piece of debris to another.

"We need to destroy it!" A woman in a spacesuit yelled to me.

I jumped between pieces of debris to get closer to the giant orb. As I got close enough I shot it with my crossbow and the giant orb made of rapidly moving lines were gone.

We returned to the castle and I fought for a while in an arena. Then a while later, I met a man I did not like. I punched him on his left cheek several times, over and over. Then I slapped him several times on his right cheek.

"This is for what happened you incompetent piece of shit!" I yelled at the man. Then I let him go and went to the basement of the castle. It was a neat and polished research
facility. White walls and glass. A man in a suit met me.

"Didn't think you were that type of a man," he said and smiled, having watched the surveillance footage of me beating that other guy.

"We got someone you need to interview," he said and showed me to a large room behind a glass wall. The room was loaded with people, equipment, vehicles, and laboratory
gear. In the corner stood two leather chairs. I sat down in one, a professor sat down in the other. Suddenly a man in a white doctor's robe yelled out.

"I will hit the switch if you try anything!" he yelled and commotion started as gas was leaking from the roof. People were scrambling and someone started to grow pale,
another followed. They fell to the ground, their skin and parts of their body melting into the floor. Other people grew pale too. It was spreading through the room.

"Do not try anything!" the man yelled once more as he exited the glassed room. He grabbed one of the melting people and tossed them around, splitting them in half and gore
fell out from the severed and melting body. People were screaming in panic, soldiers were running around. A group got into one of the vehicles, a shot was fired. It went
through the back of the vehicle and hit one of the soldiers inside, his head slowly splitting open. Slowly, not quickly.

*I awoke and decide to fall asleep again, because I wanted to know where the hell the wicked smiles people went.*

I was a' reading Scott R. Bakker's Warrior Prophet last night till 1 am. Intricate story, intrigue abounds.

In my dream I invented a character that plays the game, a king, schemes cunning little schemes, aged about 11.

Absurd. I was that king, sorta looked at these books I have devoured this past week from another pov, like living a movie but being a rabbit from one cutscene. And another. Hmmm. Basically the rabbit just becomes the entire story. Subverts all.

so i actually did write this dream down, but I dont have it with me at the current moment so i'll summarize:

my little sister and i are in the frozen woods (dont know why). There is a ginormous bear coming toward us and i tell my sister to get down. we lay there while the bear approaches and i try to keep my sister calm because she's panicking. as the bear gets closer she jumps up and runs and the bear gets her and she dies.
the scene replays 3 time but each time something is different but the outcome is always the same... bear gets my panicking sister.

So the last time, in the dream, i know when my sister is going to jump up and run (its happened 3 times already), but before she has a chance to jump up and run, i jump up instead and the bear gets me. i die, she lives.

    i wake up.

As a child I used to dream about Godzilla attacking. Everyone spent their time and energy running and hiding. Everyone except my Mom. She always calmly walked around eating fried chicken. Lol

I am watching from above, three cars careened down a winding mountain road, tall trees lining the road on both sides. The two cars in front were trying to run each other off the road, violently. The third car trying to keep up was a police car, sirens wailing. As the cars rounded a blind curve, the trees disappear from the right side and a guard rail takes their place, an attempt to keep wayward drivers from plunging down the mountainside. Unfortunately it failed at its task as one car barreled into the other, successfully causing it to go out of control. As the car hit gravel the car flips over, hits the top of the guardrail, and plunges over the side. The triumphant car stops and a driver gets out and peers over the side, yelling in victory. The police car comes around the bend, looses control and plows into the celebrating driver, both disappearing over the side. I hover to the edge of the cliff and look over the side. Nothing but empty blackness. I wake up.

Write my dreams? There's a book right there. But since I am limited to one dream...

    ---

My family and I were riding in the car at sundown and I got bored, rolled the window down and slid up outside of it. I flew out past the outer limits of the Earth and into space. Flew into a black hole, got shot out again and ended up on a blue planet, in an urban part of a small town. These people were singing a single refrain to a wagon wheel with only spokes and axle, pegged to some kind of silver-grey vehicle:

    We're fixing a wheel, We're fixing a wheel,

I looked closely at the wheel. Without great concern for reasoning, I told them that where I came from wheels didn't work that way.

They all just kind of stared at me incredulously, but appeared no less benevolent. Then I woke up.

Nobody since last Wednesday? If it's alright with you all, I suppose I could do more.

In the evening before this dream, I experimented with a practice in which the user summons the intention to surrender to divine will. This, I think, affected the quality of what went on.

    ---

I suddenly found myself in a brightly lit, relatively small gymnasium. It was empty of exercise equipment, like a school gym when not in use. However, some number between five and ten people were in the room. The wall I faced was divided into three parts. Upon waking, I supposed there was a parallel in the measurements with a cathedral I had visited once as a tourist.

The coach, whom, incidentally, I believed was female, shouted something to the effect of, "Do you think the divine will grace you all, just standing around? Move!"

I met with two people at the center part of the wall I was previously facing, having gone clockwise half the perimeter of the room. I now noticed that these people were my childhood friends, C---- and R----. C---- was very large, as I knew him in waking life. I am not certain who was directly adjacent to me.

The three of us held hands and beheld a glass pane in the nearest wall, which I did not initially know was there. We looked at the object in the space through the pane and a devotional fervor took hold of me. The three of us knelt and the room was filled with blinding light, I with binding love. I awoke.

As for the object in the pane... Even having woken, even now, I'm not certain whether I saw a baby bundled in brown blankets, or as I first thought, a very thoroughly cooked turkey.

Well Cass, you aren't the only one who dreams about poultry.

Firey, burny, lava filled crevices interspaced with narrow walkways, ladders and trapdoors. The one we’re searching for has an 8 on the door. Inside is Jake’s size 8 shoe. It is of vital importance that I risk my life to find Jake’s size 8 shoe.

I have no idea who Jake is, nor why he’s been so careless with his shoe. My dreams are weird.

Ok here's a dream like weeks or months ago:

The scene fades in to me running from something. I was in the middle of an apocalypse. A zombie apocalypse. It seems like there was no way out, I have to go in to a tunnel that looks like it have glass walls. I went in, running through the broken lights and from the zombies. I'm almost near the exit until a zombie appeared, right in front of me. I tripped over a wire and the zombie, walks closer to me. Then, he attacked.

*then I was awake, no longer sleepy and afraid that my dream would continue when I fell asleep*

    Unf*ck Yourself
Stillness and silence lingered in the forest, the trees touched the sun-kissed sky. My hooves slice through the thick brushes.
The sun is slowly going away, I can smell the fall weather coming.
"Food will be scarce" I whisper, as the bees pollinate the flowers beneath me.
    *SNAP*
I whipped my head towards the sound of the foliage breaking. There is nothing but trees. I stare for longer to see if anything moves... Still nothing. I continue eating the berries I have found.
A deep blood curdling growl comes from behind the two trees I was staring at.
My legs automatically started running towards the road at the bottom of the mountain. I heard multiple steps behind me. My body feels as if I'm already dead, my heart and legs fighting to live. Diving in and out of trees. I spot a big grey wolf on the left of me, trying to cut me off I turned to my right and started running alongside the road... I should have went over the road.
Another wolf gets on the other side of me and I heard one behind me. Three in total. My death was inevitable.
I pushed onwards and jumped onto a tree that has fallen. There are two trees on each side making it look like a den. I hide there. Hoping and praying they cannot jump up. I hear them growl and scratch at the end of the fallen tree, I'm too scared to close my eyes. It goes silent for a few seconds. Then one wolf jumps up and the rest follow. He lunges towards me and I let out a yelp. I couldn't even finish my scream. I am now above the wolves, watching my body get torn to pieces.

This was a recurring dream, It started when I was 7. It was on and off for three years. I have never had it since and I'm glad I haven't. But it was the most detailed and remembered dream I ever had.

Vivid nightmares with bad horror movie clichés are my brain's specialty.
    Nighttime is fun.:nosleep:
    Anyway, here's a recent dream:

"Damn, they're making these bigger," I remarked, reaching under a tree for a chocolate egg. It was massive, almost the size of a football. When I was a kid I could still fit them in the palm of my hand. I looked up at the little walking trail snaking through the trees, lined with these massive, colorful Easter eggs, beacons in the crusty spring snow. There were plenty left for the kids. I tucked the giant egg in my sweater pocket.
My little cousin bounded ahead after the eggs, a tiny sprite with messy white-blonde hair in a ponytail and rosy cheeks. She excitedly called for us to hurry up and help her gather the eggs. While she hunted in the trees, I wandered ahead a little as dusk seeped through the forest. I found a plethora of eggs, forgotten by the little kids who had since tuckered out, but before I could take a couple, my uncle started calling for me. It was getting dark and cold, time to head home.
When I got back, our parents were milling around and chatting, so I went to stand with my cousin. I stroked her staticky hair, her little head barely past my hip. Darkness rolled in and I heard a low snarling. We all fell silent, and I felt my cousin shaking. I looked down, finding her lips pulled back, bloodlust in her eyes, and a hungry growl in her throat. Before I could react, I was knocked flat on my back, my cousin's jaw locked around my forearm, my uncle trying to pry her off, but she was already stronger than the two of us combined.

I love reading these, haha! My dreams are totally normal. Here is the end of last night's . . . just the end or I'd be typing too much. I dream for hours. I fall into REM almost immediately.

This all starts off in a school gymnasium. There's a fat kid who's kind of short, but he's able to slam a basketball. He has an inexplicable 8-ft vertical jump. He's demonstrating this for some sort of Guinness Record's book, but sadly, he's hurt his foot and can't jump. (I'm watching all of this from afar. I don't even seem to have a body . . . ) Anyway, the kid is distraught that he can't slam the basketball and earn glory, so the student body picks him up and throws him at the net. Somehow this counts for the record. Just then there is this thundering and this beast, which I can only describe as a cross between a dinosaur and a wild boar, goes thundering by. It's trampling the city. Everyone's running for safety and screaming. The beast runs by me. (I'm finally present in the dream.) It's smaller now. Its head only brushes the ceiling of my grandmother's living room. Yes, the gym is gone. I see that the beast has hurt its hoof. I feel this theme relates to the fat kid at the beginning. It stops beside me and holds up its foot, and I try to help it by searching for a thorn like in Aesop's tale. I don't see anything, but something is surely there. The creature spreads its paw, because now its a large St. Bernard like a cross between Clifford and Cujo, and as I try to find the thorn, it begins to speak.

I don't consider this a nightmare. My nightmare's are awful.

I've got a dream I think about every once in a while. I feel as if it's archetypal in some way, though I don't have the proper background to say how.

To preface, I was out camping. That night we stayed up till two in the morning, drinking. It might have been the night we saw this string of lights move across the sky. I think it was Elon Musk's Starlink satellites, but I never looked into it. Anyways, it was cold out and where I was sleeping was on this rocky incline. I usually don't get good sleep while camping, and not because of the sleeping conditions. I listen to the woods, and I hear noises; wind moving through trees, sticks falling, creatures calling. And sometimes it's silent, where if I shift even a tiny bit the rustling of my sleeping bag radiates like the ringing of a gong, and so I try and stay as still as I possibly can. Not that there is anything actually out there, except maybe a black bear, but I can't help being a little nervous.

In my dream it is a warm day and there is an inclined driveway. Ahead of me is my dad. He's walking down the driveway. A branch from a tree is jutted out over the pavement, no leaves, just these thin sharp ends of wood. My dad, not paying attention, walks into them. Walking into a branch seems so innocent, but they stick into his face. He crumples to the ground. I run up to him. He's cringing, his eye's squeezed shut, face red, hands shaking over his eyes. He's making noises unlike him, painful sharp moans. It strikes me that he is so weak and old. He's usually so stoic. I don't know what to do. There is nothing I can do. I love him so much, and he's suffering. He can't see. He's poked his eyes out. He's blind. And he says, “Why do I always make my nightmare's into reality?”

And I wake up. I only slept two hours, and I didn't fall back asleep after that. I was suddenly very worried about my dad. I was worried that something had happened to him. You hear about these kind of psychic experiences, where the moment a tragic event befalls a relative or friend one sees or feels some related stimuli. I had a strong desire to call, but I didn't. Fortunately, he was fine. I certainly wasn't.

I have a fair number of frustration dreams. This is one: I can't fly, but I can float, sitting cross-legged in the air about five feet above the ground. In order to get anywhere, I have to swim with my arms, as if air is water. This takes a lot of energy, and walking might be easier, but I swim down rural roads and highways, making my difficult way toward some unknown point.

I dreamed I was Tarzan who was a monster who ate people. Never actively at anyone in my dream, but at one point I passed a woman on the stairs and I turned to look only to find her shoes, her red high heeled shoes. I had eaten her, bones, clothes, and all.

Here's one from 2013 (I write mine down). I named it Be nice to your pig:

All I can remember is a rather large ditch beside a country road. I was in the ditch and it was raining or had just rained really hard, so it was flowing with plenty of runoff. There was a woman in some kind of flowy white gown like something from Beauty and the Beast, and she and her very large pig were huddled together on a small cobbled-together raft drifting along the stream.

I had the feeling they had been drifting down the stream like this for a very long time, like they had been living this way for years. The raft was so small the pig could barely fit on it, and she was sort of sitting/laying across his back, petting and stroking him. As she did she kept up a quiet muttered stream of words, talking about how worthless the pig is and how she bitterly wishes it could have been a better pig or she could have had a different one. She didn't seem to think it understood her, but I could tell it did.

Then something strange happened - a sort of fairy godmother shows up who is now also on the raft with the two of them, all crowded really tightly. She touches the pig for a moment with her wand and briefly it becomes a magnificent pig, everything she could possibly wish for it to have ever been, and she was absolutely dumbstruck with wonder and joy. But then the wand-touch ended and the pig went back to being the same pig it was before, and she started to cry. She asked the fairy why she had done that, and the fairy told her the wand showed her what would have been if she had actually shown the poor pig kindness rather than bitter rejection and condescension through its life.
