Reading someone's recommendations on what to do with ugly figurines that are family gifts: Put them on a wobbly shelf...if they survive, hooray...if they don't woo hoo! :superidea:

    I knew it...I knew I wasn't crazy !
Not until after my 1st breakdown at the tender age of 20 did I begin to appreciate the wonders of contemplation, thought and communication, and sadly, noticing how a huge percentage of relationship issues stem from a lack of use of these basic but powerful things freely available to one and all.
I grew up in a non communicative family environment, and to this day, me mum and elder brothers can get quite upset when I share my thoughts on matters that they're either convinced they're the world's experts on or they've never done and self examination on.

What I've noticed over the years is when the intent was humor and you point out any glitches, folks (not all) tend to veer over to the disappointed spectrum which can lead to being offended.

If they were on autopilot and had never considered the glitch in such statements, as there's tons of 'em used in normal day to day convos, folks (not all) tend to veer into being offended.

Based on the small number of folks I've been in contact with or observed, I judge I do contemplate a whole lot more thus my thoughts on subject matters is not "nice weather we're having" type conversation, thus can disturb folks when first encountered. But I also end up having jolly good indepth convos with some of these folks.

I have no idea how a person will react, that's part of the enjoyment of interaction. Sometimes a clash can be sorted and everyone involved comes out better for it, and sometimes a rift remains. I tend to feel good about my uniqueness and will not restrict myself, while treading as lightly as possible, and will deal with any issues that may arise.

"A friend is one to whom one can pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keeping what is worth keeping, and, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away." - Arab Proverb

"It is one of the severest tests of friendship to tell your friend his faults. So to love a man that you cannot bear to see a stain upon him, and to speak painful truth through loving words, that is friendship." - Henry Ward Beecher

"It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble, how hopeless the outlook, how muddled the tangle, how great the mistake. A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all." - Emmet Fox

"True love is born from understanding." - Buddha

While grabbing groceries yesterday, I rarely do but I took a gander at the dreggs shelf, random stuff dirt cheap, discontinued lines etc. Found something that caught my eye concerning personal grooming (also rarely done). Will post some pics of my purchase later today.

Got the creek pump up and running yesterday morn, the flood simply moved the foot valve slightly further downstream thus it ended up out of the water after it receded. Just has to rebleed.

I'm going through slight withdrawals, I have no more vid cards to buy or bid on in eBay
(in my price range), though I still look every day for new arrivals which snagged me the Thunderbirdsesque one that no one else saw due to what I think are glitches in the search function, 'cus it's way powerful and was cheap as free... I have a rigorous search routine.

Gonna soak standard spark plugs in cleaner today and reinstall, taking donk fully back to original status, will save HP plugs for econ testing later in the year.

Depending on bod, as still sore from the 3 days of riding, I have some jobs to do
    - Laundry (once a month), I use the tiny 'Mat in the village.
    - Wet seal sidedoor, the floor jamb, that allows a couple of litres of water inside after half decent rain.
    - Empty and clean 1 cubic meter plastic water tank for toilet, it slowly clogs up with algae from creek water, and replace decayed pinewood pallets it sits on with hardwood ones I got from the dump. Water tank is gravity fed for toilet so two pallets high is more than adequate.
    - Add rest of drivetrain mods to treadlee as I should be right for a ride on mundee.

Apart from that, a nice relaxing sunday type of sunday for me. All hooned out, no desire to go for a thrash through the mountain to enjoy the sound again.

I'm laying in bed, trying to relax so I can eventually sleep.

But I clench my inner core tightly, particularly feeling like I'm trying to hold farts in or something. I have to keep realising I'm tensing up my entire body like this and make myself relax it again.

I think I might go make a bowl of Crunchy Nut cereal, then read my book. It's been a super bad day but I'm glad to be home with my partner and kids and dog.

Pretending to do research for my novel . . . I'm really putting off going down the basement and glopping hydraulic cement onto the leaks coming through my foundation wall.

If the leaky place weren't in a dark, tight corner next to my (heavy) work bench, I wouldn't mind so much. But it is.

EDIT: The rain has stopped and the puddle (stream) on the floor has dried up a little. It's too dark to see what I'm doing down there, and I'm too hungry* to focus on it. To heck with it, I've turned on the dehumidifier and a fan, and I'll deal with it tomorrow after church.

*I've been fighting my weight the past few months, and the only thing that keeps it down is if I don't eat after 9:00 PM. So I don't.

Nope, resting all day today. Hunter has decided to join me. Been watching This Old Tony vids and got me some Clickspring ones (he does a lot of brass machining, which is so delicious).

Now in village havin' coffee cus I went to make some fried fish but forgot I destroyed my old plastic oil container (don't put super hot oil in). So hit the dump for a 2nd hand stainless pot as who wants to pay $20 for cheap crap at Woolies. Found 2 to try, just need a jolly good clean.

Currently downloading Superbowls 51 n 52...no more left to download, and apparently these two are the shit!

Slight intermittent fuel smell when I start the ute with struggle starting, so will get that sorted when the cleaned injectors are ready.

Contemplating something already when I came here, and after reading @Xander17 's 'information' now contemplating another thought.

To handle the second one first; by "Human avatar operater." do you mean like the blue people in the movie? I take a moment here to point at my avatar on these boards.

The other thing I was contemplating is the idea of writing something instructive on how a nursing home/rehab facility resident on about the same level as myself would like to and I feel should be treated. This is prompted partly by dealing with a range of staff behavior here that reaches beyond the point that should be tolerated. Every few days one of a limited number of staff members here do step over some line in the treatment of me that even their director doesn't accept as proper.

I think I can put together something from the 'alert' resident's POV on what should be expected of all staff of such places for the proper dignity of the resident. I mean, while I see that there are people here who should have treatment that might even seem harsh to someone who is a stranger to the environment there are also staff members that don't know how to deal people like me any better than they handle people who are little more than 'someone who's body is being warehoused until it joins their mind in the state of no longer functioning'. This is quite hard to express smoothly.

It’s back to work today for me. It’s been a nice break, and it will be a while before I get this much time off again, but it’s time to get back to earning an income.

Kerry King plays a BC Rich? Why'd I think he used a Randy Rhoades? Maybe that was Jeff Hanneman, may he rest in peace.

Wait, you've got a BC Rich, right @Cave Troll?

Yes Kerry King plays a B C Rich V, Randy Rhoades played a Jackson V, Jeff Hanneman
    played an ESP.

I used to have a BC Rich, but I sold it a couple of years ago. :(

Randy Rhodes played the offset V, which eventually became known as the "Randy Rhodes." Not sure if they called it that while he was still alive or after he died.

    Jackson V:

I play a Jackson Kelly Pro:

Got mine in 1995, I think. That was the year before they opened their custom shop, so mine was still handmade and had the neck-through, ebony fingerboard, mother of pearl inlays and all that shit standard for about $1200. Now I think they only offer the ebony through their custom shop, which starts at like $7000 or something. Might be wrong about that.

I want this one: white with the Les Paul style inlays.

Scrolling through the Google images, it looks as though most of Randy's guitars had the square inlays, so maybe Jackson didn't introduce their signature shark-fins until later. And all the Jackson Rhodes seem to have 22 frets, probably because that was how he played them. Interesting. Looks tough to access to higher frets... even the newer ones have the body jut out around 17. Cool thing about the Kelly is that the neck doesn't even start to widen until you hit the B on the 19th fret. Not that I do a shit ton of work in the 20s, but it's nice to be able reach 22 and bend it up to the high E, since damn near every rock/metal song is in E minor anyway.

Trying to mentally prepare for next week... work should be getting easier but somewhere between everyone else being unhappy and bitter, the passive aggressive attitude of my co-worker and the fact that I'm doing five morning weeks in a row just makes me want to go to bed and stay there.

Just eight more weeks. Just eight more weeks.

I hear you, sister. I've got a crew of 40 people that are alternatingly bitter/unhappy/entitled/emotionally-scarred-for-life. Every day is a new crisis for someone. Every 15 minute interval produces a meltdown of varying severity. Except me. I'm not allowed. Boss ain't allowed feeling. Boss wears happy face and pees positivity. Boss swallows everyone's shit and calls it ice cream.

I think I'm going to check myself into the loony bin tomorrow. A padded room, straight jacket, and total absence of color and stimuli sounds divine to me.

I'm not the boss. I'm the new girl. I'm still trying to be the positive one! Not to be annoying to the others... but as a sort of survival tactic not to be dragged down myself. Our boss on the other hand can't wait to get onto his new job and he seems to be the most unhappy person of them all.

That's pretty much the key to business and surviving with others. A wiseman once told me that the only thing you can control in the workplace is your attitude. I say that to myself about 50 times a day.
