Second thoughts on self publishing

    The big problem with self-published print books is that few bookstores will stock them, and they're one of the biggest markets for selling print. Another problem is cost; PoD books are trade paperbacks, not mass-market, so they're quite expensive and the writer probably has an ebook available for 1/4 of the price.

    I think I sell about one print book for every fifty or so ebooks.

    As I said, research would need to be done regarding what sort of sales figures would make an agent/publisher interested. As for the readers of 50 Shades, that's neither here nor there.

    Anyway though, I do agree with you that the OP might as well just leave it the way it is seeing as he's not invested in his own writing regardless.
