Back in school they called people like us "Grammar Nazis." :superwink: And yeah, I'm not too picky about grammar online simply because it's online and I have to worry about grammar much of the day. You have a point though. When I see lots of errors in one block of text my eyes glaze over.

To tell the truth I am a bit put off by people who attribute bad grammar to cats, for example when someone writes a caption having a cat saying "Can I haz a cheeseburger?", I personally wouldn't be as bothered if dogs were shown in that light, but I feel that cats are too intelligent for that.

I feel the need to comment on your avatar @JLT , I like cats and used to have a black cat, but her eyes used to glow green when exposed to light like that. What color are your cat's eyes please?

Wait. They're doing that on purpose? I thought it was due to exceptionally poor spelling skills. When my kids were in school I had several teachers reprimand me for making them correct spelling and grammar errors in their homework. As if I'm going to let my kids leave home not knowing how to write a basic email using proper language.

Well, it's not the cats writing with such bad grammar. Granted kittens may not understand things like warm not being a construction material,

but then they are young and need to learn some stuff.

My Siberian Husky doesn't get along with cats but until 9 years ago I always had a cat. They're so much fun.

    @sleepindawg

Completely off topic but my Siberian behaves so much like a cat sometimes, it's weird. She's the only Sibe I've had but I hear it's common in the breed. They're very intelligent. fantastic problem solvers and couldn't care less what their owners think about anything. It took me 2 years to completely obedience train my dog and even now she'll still think before obeying a command.

I am minded to think of Gollum from LOTR.

'What has it got in its pocketses?'

Thats what I call redefining dialogue.

Sable had eyes that were sort of greenish-gold. He was a good cat, very affectionate even to strangers, and we miss him. Like most of our cats, he was FIV positive and died younger than most cats do.

:( I adopted an FIV+ kitten many years ago. He made it five or six years. Hadn't thought of him in years.

Memes in general irritate me, but I have to admit to chuckling at a few, especially when they use bastardised language like this :D

How is that pronounced? Is it like 'me me' or some other way?

Meem. Short for memetics. Originally coined by Richard Dawkins in The Selfish Gene as cultural unit similar to the way a gene is a biological unit.

I took one of those stupid tests recently for a job interview. They forgot to tell me the results and the test was written by an idiot. There were often multiple equally valid patterns that one had to choose from and figuring out which one had more to do with personal bias for associations rather than the ability to find patterns. Compared to a solid math exam with a single correct answer, these things are a total scam. Intelligence is the ability to solve problems based on a set of constraining rules, but if there are no rules, each finite set can be generated by an infinite number of patterns.

I don't know about math exams with a single correct answer. For example the Quadratic Equation has two answers and sometimes the "right" answer isn't obvious, but totally agree WRT a lot of the "personality" exams and the like.

That would be one answer where all possible solutions to the equation must be included. It's not like the teacher randomly picked one of the intersections and gave negative points for finding another, like in IQ tests.

True though in some of my math classes I wondered. ...

I meant to comment on this before but I got distracted. Sorry about your loss, but it's good to find someone who actually takes in the hard to adopt cats. My next cat will be a hard to adopt cat. I'm planning on a senior kitty because they are well past the 'oh so cute' age that gets so many cats adopted. However, being on a fixed income, I would need a kitty that isn't too expensive to keep healthy. Diabetic cats are out, how expensive are FIV kitties?

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, even if it was a while ago. I understand about how the sadness comes back even after over a year, it's been nearly 1 and a half years since my Chloe passed and I still miss her very much. BTW, Chloe is in a couple or 3 pics that I have uploaded on these forums.

Well, the biggest drawback is that FIV cats are more prone to dental problems, which can get expensive. One of our FIV cats lived to be fifteen, but the others usually last only ten years before some sort of aggressive cancer gets to them. So they're not cheap.

Then an FIV cat likely isn't for me, I really can't afford much extra so I need a reasonably healthy cat. I guess I'm gonna be looking for a healthy senior cat when I'm ready to have one.

EDIT: Senior cats are hard to find homes for according to what I've read. They just aren't one of those cute little balls of fluff, but then I'm not gonna be looking for cute, I'm gonna be looking for someone who I can relate to, but cute would be a plus.

My daughter adopted a four year old three legged black cat. The rescue people didn't think he'd ever be adopted. Trig is otherwise healthy but his missing front leg requires some adjustments for him, like the litter box.

Trig has been to Korea and back so he's had a more interesting life than most cats!

I took one given by a psychologist when I was about 12. But I don't think I ever got access to the results. I was under the impression that it was very good for my age. But who knows? I was diagnosed with comorbid ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome. I do like solving puzzles and testing out my critical thinking skills. But I've never been very obsessed with measuring them. Mostly because I didn't get immediate feedback on questions. How are you supposed to get better at something if you're never told specifically if you did it right or not?
