    Character Themes

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by OzeeManDias, Nov 13, 2019.

Something of a whimsical topic I wanted to pose for any other writers who are avid music-listeners.

When creating a character, do you ever start associating some of the music you listen to with them or with their struggles? I don't really mean in the sense of scoring their drama with music, but rather associating a piece of music with that character specifically.

It's something I've been doing a lot more while furthering the creation of my fantasy universe, so I was curious if any other individuals had the same thoughts.

Yes. Recently I was writing about a secondary character who is this bubbly and emotional yet streetsmart girl and I was listening to the track ''Scholar Sanctuary'' from the His Dark Materials OST. It just felt exactly like her, in music form. A bit whimsical and happy, but not too much.
