Rejection from a human man is different, almost more personal. It’s like being told, “As I’ve gotten to know you, I’ve realized that I would rather be alone with my thoughts than spend time in your presence.”

-Some random blogger named Jenny Singer. God only knows how the rabbit hole led me to that post.

"We look at some people as if they were special, gifted, divine. Nobody is special and gifted and divine. No more than you are, no more than I am. The only difference, the very only one, is that they have begun to understand what they really are and have begun to practice it." - Richard Bach

"At any given moment we have two voices in our head: one which tells us we can't, and another which tells us we can. Which will prove true? The one we give the most attention to. The one we act on. The one we make a stand for." - Alan Cohen

"Generally speaking, we regard discomfort in any form as bad news. But for practitioners or spiritual warriors - people who have a certain hunger to know what is true - feelings like disappointment, embarrassment, irritation, resentment, anger, jealousy, and fear, instead of being bad news, are actually very clear moments that teach us where it is that we're holding back. They teach us to perk up and lean in, when we feel we'd rather collapse and back away. They're like messengers that show us, with terrifying clarity, exactly where we're stuck. This very moment is the perfect teacher, and, lucky for us, it's with us wherever we are." - Pema Chodron

This is the next quote from my saved list for this forum.
Synced with yours quite well I think.

"In the sweet territory of silence we touch the mystery. It's the place of reflection and contemplation, and it's the place where we can connect with the deep knowing, to the deep wisdom way." - Angeles Arrien
2009, after resolving my years of inner turmoil, and rereading the small number of Eastern philosophy books I had, reminiscing through my whole life, I was thinking about the numerous emotions we humans have, the negative and the positive; and of course, one usually isn't a fan of the negatives, the experiencing of them, not the huge benefits one has in exploring them to discover what dysfunctions are the root cause of the painful sensations.

I also pondered the many positive ones we have, how enlivening they are, how they make life worth living, makes one appreciate being alive. As I pondered the energy of the positive emotions, I wondered what was my fav, in that which emotion would I like to constantly experience on a daily basis. As I pondered all the positive emotions I'd experienced over 40 years, it dawned on me that there was one that didn't fit in either category of pos or neg.

Stillness. At first I thought stillness was an absence of emotion. Perhaps true in light of the traditional, popular or more common emotions...but as I explored I found stillness either is an emotion or evokes the emotion of awe.

Thus I concluded if I could experience one state of being on a constant basis, it would unequivocally be stillness, for the contentment, the sense of the profound and awe it has or evokes.

True the next one would be to be madly in love with someone that loves me as much, but the best of that still pales in significance to stillness. And yes, I wouldn't have this attitude if it weren't for 25+years of celibacy; and that's real celibacy, not catholic priest celibacy.

I experienced a decade of rapturous romantic love with my soul mate, and yet for me, if I had a choice to once again be in love with another soul mate, I'd choose celibacy and stillness of soul every time.
