The thing I love about classical music is that despite having listened to various composers and works for a decade you always find something new. I'm especially beginning to like the youtube algorithm that keeps sending me things from composers I already knew about, but of pieces I have never heard of before.
If you want lesser known classical music, hit up Tchaikovsky's stuff. Not Nutcracker. Everyone knows Nutcracker. He wrote some stunning concertos and other works. Debussy's also good. My all time favorite composer in the "classical" era is either Chopin or Stravinsky. If you've ever wanted to feel like you belong in the world, listen to Firebird by Stravinsky. Particularly, Tableau II: Kastchei's spell is broken, His palace disappears, and the Petrified Knights return to life.
This is the most joyous video ever, from Maximum the Hormone. It makes me laugh from beginning to end. It's just so happy. I sincerely wish US concerts were like this with perfect crowd participation. I can't even guess how many tens of thousands are in sync . . . It doesn't seem possible. When you leave your phone at home, you're free to rock. I'll spare you the title, but the cannons at the end reinforce the theme.
Currently repeat listening to Game of Thrones season 8 soundtrack. The Stark theme is absolutely gut wrenching to me. Got all kinds of emotional at work while listening to it, haha. "Why are you crying?" "Don't worry about it."
