Rene Auberjonois, character actor who appeared in M*A*S*H, Benson, and - perhaps most notably - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, has passed away at the age of 79.

Most notably? C'mon, he played "Tony" in Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach. Absolutely robbed of an Oscar for that one :)

He also voiced Mr. House in Fallout: New Vegas.

    ETA:
Checking IMDB, it turns out he was far more prolific an actor than I originally remembered. The one that surprised me the most was he played Colonel West in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. AKA, the fake Klingon assassin at the end.

I did say perhaps most notably. Truthfully, it's where I know the actor best from. I didn't even catch on that he was Mr. House until a lot later in my life.

I was teasing. To tell the truth, I tend to confuse him with James Cromwell, another quite tall actor with a resounding voice.

Of course, the baby is around 33 now.

    Danny Aiello has died.

Only in the Director's Cut version. The initially released movie had cut out almost every appearance of Odo René Auberjonois except in the Klingon prostethics. It was not revealed that it was a Starfleet officer in disguise.

Since it has not been mentioned as far as I can see: Marie Fredriksson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Fredriksson, singer of Swedish pop-duo Roxette, finally succumbed to a brain tumor on Dec. 9th. She was 61.

Here's another one that has not been mentioned in this forum (as far as my google-fu says). It's been quite a while since it happened, so maybe I just missed it here.

Aron Eisenberg died on Sept. 21, age 50. He played Nog, son of Rom, nephew of Quark, on Deep Space Nine. He suffered his whole life with kidney problems, got two transplants. Nevertheless, his death came still quite sudden.

James Kennedy has died at the age of 73. (No, not those Kennedys.) his life was the basis for the 2003 movie Radio.

Another recent Star Trek related loss: Dorothy Fontana died on Dec. 2nd, aged 80. Novelist and screen writer, mostly credited as "D.C. Fontana", sometimes forced to use male pseudonyms like "J. Michael Bingham" or "Michael Richards", to hide her gender. She wrote a whole bunch of Star Trek and other TV episodes.

He also played the chef in the animated Disney Little Mermaid. My dad had the honor of meeting Odo on more than one occasion and said he was one of the nicest people he'd ever met. This legit makes me really sad to hear. He was such a well loved actor.

I didn’t realize he was still alive. I thought he died after that stroke about ten years ago.

Alasdair Gray, Scottish author, artist and polymath ...he's not been in the best of health lately, and he was 85 years old, but still. A very unique person. My husband knew him, as did some other people who are friends of mine, although I never met Mr Gray myself.

Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta.

She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita.
