Yesterdee installed the new blades on the mower.

Sound tested blades out of bubble packaging. High quality steel, and if memory circuits are working well, same brand as long lasting blades on previous mower, as new mower shop guy said never any complaints from customers and this brand is known all over Oz, thus an unverified confirmation it's the same brand.

    - Devised a rope sling (thus keeping mower clear of stands) to hold the mower at a high angle to work on the underbelly.
    - Did a thorough cleaning job with flat screwdrivers and small wire brush.
    - Upon doing so, noticed airfilter box had too much oily grass stuck to its base. I knew this is from when I lean the mower over against the wall in order to grind the blades sharp before each mow. The excessive lean causes the sump oil to seep out the airfilter pipe. Thus now learnt to lean mower in the opposite direction.
    - Took housing apart and paper filter was half soaked in oil, thus not good for fuel mixture. Well constructed rubber encased filter that has extra removable thin foam outer ring.
    - Gave all that a jolly good degrease soaking and wash with hose.
    - Left them out to dry overnight. Plugged up exposed holes with rag to keep wasps away from building mud nests in it. They continue to build nests in mower exhausts but never in me grass trimmers; go figure; thus I now plug exhausts up after a mow.
Depending on weather, either mow today or thursdee. Prefer thurs, that way I can hit the village one time this week, as fridee is when I have to buy money from the bank for rent.

    Mowed yesterday.
    - clear sky, sunny summer weather but slight breeze (no stars this morn, so perhaps rain is coming back for thursdee)
    - started at 10, took me 2 hrs due to low grass and didn't mow outside area around carport ( it grows slower than the yard)
    - tired but no soreness after the job
    - gonna hit the village for breakie, then take clippings to dump, grab some groceries and
download some YT vids as far better reception there, then head home.

I see the days grows shorter. I feel the nights grow colder. Young people feelin' restless Old people feelin' old. I sense the darkness clearer. I feel a presence here. A change in the weather, I love this time of year.

My dad's dog developed this habit where around this time at night, she'll find me, no matter where I am in the house, and stare at me until I move to get up. Then I ask her if it's that time, and she does this little jump and runs ahead. She waits for me, and then when I've caught up, she runs ahead more, turning to see I'm following. We do this all until we reach the back door where she goes out and delivers a mighty shit in the back yard. Then she comes back inside and zooms around like the bees are after her, and almost takes off two of my fingers when I give her a treat for being such a good girl.

It's gonna be one of the things I miss when I leave this house.

Just finished writing an analysis upon a dialogue scene of the film "Brick", I have to turn in, in about... 8 hours. I kid you not, I had to stop and count my fingers in order to count the remaining hours. My brain can't process shit anymore. Listening to "Let's get radical" by Gogol Bordello. This song's start highlights my current state.

    - Goodmorning!
    - Oh, ffffffuuuuck!

Should I even try to sleep or remain alert, since I'll have to bounce soon? Should I man up and start writing the next project that is due tomorrow? I need a double espresso shot and by shot I mean injection.

I overslept, too. But my phone's clock wasn't to blame. I thought "sod it" when I got to 3am and my mind was still whirring with plot ideas for my book. I need to work on identifying faster when I'm not going to get any sleep, get up, do something to distract my pesky brain, and then rush off back to bed and take advantage.

Why brain? Why do I have to distract you, to turn you off? You're MY brain! You should be doing what I want, godammit!

Been listening to the podcast on the Peloponnesian War. My god.

Corinth (an Athenian colony) plays both sides by pitting Sparta and Athens against each other because how dare Athens try to punish its colonies when they misbehave. Corinth basically went “whaaa Athens is being a big mean meany whaaa you gotta save us Peloponnesian League!!”

Sparta declares war despite the king thinking it best not to since they're kind of weak right now? Then they think it over for more than five minutes, realize hey maybe we done screwed up and try to negotiate with Athens.

    Sheesh. (Slow claps)

The village, for the last decade continues to become a ghost town; the major companies moved house in order to save a few cents and, more common that not, never gave a shit about the loyal folks who worked for them and the negative impact it'd have on the community. Apparently this small village was the hub of nor-east tassie.

Since I've been here, it's rare to see every parking space along the main street filled.
But regardless of how poor a community is, with christmas looming, the masses still manage to find wads of cash thus fill the streets and shops.
The parking spaces on the streets and around the main hub, which is Woolies and the $2 shop, have been full every day I've gone in, even before Dec began.

I have no idea why heaps of folks think they need to stock up on groceries for a month, just because of two days of family get togethers and a couple of days of closed shops.

Imagine what the majority would do when there's as actual crisis and daily supplies are actually affected.

I'm so glad I was either prewired and\or early on developed a distain for what I see as pointless traditions and customs. I've suffered zero adverse effects from ceasing to celebrate and enjoy life only on specific days.

This series (7 parts) has been more than worth the downloads.

Well, if you think about it it's understandable. Athens was in its golden age, growing as an empire since it had almost all of the marine power, which meant trading and was already rich, while the rest, smaller city-states were losing their grasp. And ok. Athenians also overstepped some boundaries themselves... For example they sent navy power (presumably for defence... presumably) to Corfu. What business does Athens have helping a Corinthian colony? Actually, this war was very complicated since many different city states participated, but the main beef was the cultural and political differences between Athens and Sparta. It was a power struggle for strategic resources.

In the end the athenians had to swing the white flag. Makes you wonder what good collaboration between states can achieve.

Eating ice cream. Strawberry, because that's the only one I really enjoy. Every other flavor is a distraction from the one true god of cream. I will not listen to any of you ice cream pagans with your heresy - begone to the abyss, heretics!
