k.d. lang's full name is Kathryn Dawn Lang. She's also got an OC and an AOE after that, whatever those are
IDK what that means, but I do know kinda that it has something to do with Anime making it's way to the states, from some Otaku guy I used to watch. Though according to google it means: Original Character. IDK. Apparently it can mean different things, depending on what it is being used for. Or it means the same thing in Otaku speak too.
According to Wikipedia, "Order of Canada" and "Alberta Order of Excellence". I'm assuming they're similar to our MBE, OBE, etc. Do you have honours like that in America?
Yeah, I kind of guessed those were royal honors or similar. America doesn't have anything like that; a big part of the American Revolution was a semi-egalitarian reaction against titles of nobility and such (the Founders were pretty much what might be called oligarchs today, a bunch of very well-off white property [and slave] owners). So while we do have various awards like.... umm... the Presidential Medal of Freedom? Anyway, stuff that's probably similar to those awarded in the UK and the Commonwealth, they don't get appended to your name.

It is the duty of the junior-most member of the United States Supreme Court to help choose the monthly menu for the Court's cafeteria. It's a form of hazing. Justice Stephen Breyer held the post for thirteen years.
You know how they say not to drink orange juice after you've brushed your teeth? It also applies to cranberry juice, as I just discovered. I suffered, so you don't have to.
Long ago there was a big honkin' platypus that lived in Argentina called Monotrematum sudamericanum. A good bit larger than the modern platypus, and it retained it's molars into adulthood, which the modern platypus does not.
Despite the math of most memes on the topic, dogs have not been with us for 10,000 years. It's closer to twice that long. The oldest combined burials of humans and dogs are about 9000 years old, near Lake Baikal in Russia, and those dogs were already very much dogs, not wolves. The 10,000 year date is more applicable to cattle. Dogs have been with us twice as long as cows.
Fear of anybody who sits next to you and talks constantly for 8 fucking hours. Me? I like flying. By that I mean I really enjoy being up in the air. But what I cannot stand is all the hee haw you have to go through to get on and off the danged plane ...hours of waiting at either end and jumping through various hoops ...and then the discomfort of those seats, and needing the toilet but not wanting to disturb an entire row of sleeping fellow passengers, and the numpty ahead of you who reclines into your lap, etc.. My favourite flights were the ones I took on very short haul flights, and the BEST one ever was the flight between Glasgow and the Hebridean island of Barra, where we landed on a beach (on purpose.) And the plane flew low enough to watch the landscape pretty much all the way. And the pilot and co-pilot talked to us and told us what was below, etc. Only 12 passengers on the flight. I mean, that was a dream come true. Loved it.
this is true but when its a young person its much more social acceptable to ask them to wind it in, feign sleep, put your earbuds in and ignore them or whatever.. when its a nice old granny type you just have to nod and smile as she goes on and on and on
