In this country 99% of us drive stick... i suck at driving an autobox (my mother has an auto toyota yaris and I find i have to give it about 6 thousand revs to get it to accelerate worth a damn because the autobox keeps putting it into high gear)
Just do it quickly. Don't take to long and don't stutter, or you make a fool out of yourself. A little gas, clutch pedal, and shift. Easy day. A couple of day's practice on some hills, and you'll be acting like a street racer in no time.
That's the opposite of the advice I'm getting from my friend. Maybe he just sucks at explaining it. Keeps telling me not to let off the clutch too quickly. Big Moose, where are you from?
I'm in the UK you have to let the clutch bite as you press the gas, its not difficult once you get the hang of it. you're friend is right that you don't want to come off too quickly, but equally the whole sequence of off the gas, clutch down change gear clutch up and on the gas should take place fairly quickly
99% are manual in the UK? I had no idea. You think that's gonna last? Once I am moving, I find the process of switching gears smoothly and quickly pretty easy. The problem is things like starting to move from neutral and inching forward at a blind intersection. Can't seem to get the hang of it.
i can't see it changing any time soon - nearly everyone who learns to drive in the uk learns on a stick (theres actually two classes of driving licence, if you learn on an auto you get an auto only licence, which is why hardly anyone does)... and most small cars are stick only... the bigger ones come in auto options but they aren't that common. Also sports cars are nearly all stick because if you like 'spirited driving' you need to be in control of when to change. My van id a diesel and it can move on idle which makes the creeping forward thing much easier... if i drive a petrol car i'll probably stall it a couple of times before i get used to it
Still, I'm surprised the British turn up their noses at automatic transmissions on such a large scale. If even Terry Christian can drive stick, I'm sure I can figure it out.
It was, thank you, friend. I have a spider on my windowsill he`s been there for a bit. Doesn`t bother me though so I let him be in his little web. My new roomie, calling him Frederick. OT: Sitting here after work, resting a headache. Work was ....demotivating.... but hey it wasn`t actually bad just little stuff that probably really shouldn`t get to me. Birthday week is wrapping up well though, plottings things out in my head for the end of the month. What I thought was gonna all fall in place coming into the month kinda took a back burner but that`s actually good. I had to focus on myself and positioning myself properly before moving forward. Still do want to get that Medium post at least written before the month is out. Whether my editor completes the edits before March...doesn`t really matter not pressed on the upload schedule as much as the writing habit for now. For now though i`m focusing on my mashed potatoes.
I'm not sure that's accurate nowadays. It used to be people only drove automatics because they'd passed their test in an auto. Now they seem to be the choice for anyone who isn't a boy-racer. No. It's nothing like that figure. I'd say it's closer to 65/35 in favour of geared.
37% autos according to the AA ... they make a good point that i hadn't thought of that most electric cars are automatic... so 63% not 99 but its still a majority
Looking at interesting gadgets. Will need to do more research, and then likely debate for weeks on end before I actually get anything. Tis the usual way I shop, especially when I'm looking at triple figure prices!
Well since my monster is thoroughly terrified of giant reptilian soldiers that breath toxic gasses, and have dangerous pipes with lights on them, given the fact it now has a hole in one of it's many hands. I suppose I should reunite the two MCs, and move into more 'Adult' territory. Figure it is about time to start exploring those kinda things, given that is kinda where they are. Also I did manage to get two characters to kiss, to get their relationship started officially (if not a bit slow).
Well probably hit the sack. Though I finally got in some of that more intimate part written, and I think it came out tasteful, without it coming off as tactless smut. Aimed for a more sensual tone and feel to it, since there is no time to rush into the hot and heavy stuff with the character just yet. Just like everything else in a story, there has to be room to escalate.
Debating if I should challenge the storm to get some nice breakfast before sleeping beauty wakes up...
Just finished watching Spring and Port Wine - great film! There no eggs comin' on the scene - poached or fried.
Frying is easier than poaching! Serve 'em up on toast so they don't touch the plate. Unless you heat the plate, that is. Cold plates murder eggs because they cool the eggs off so damn fast and cold eggs are not as delicious as hot eggs. Serve fried eggs on toast - it's the perfect breakfast!
I think Susan George had opted for poached, but James Mason was having none of it. Because she wouldn't eat her herring.
757 words today, with 20,319 words overall. :O Military stuff is surprisingly fun. Probably more fun that the political stuff because, y'know, fighting and things.
Poached is more sophisticated, over scrambled...and over fried our trencherman’s choice. ...often I am poaching eggs with my vinegars of the world.
Well. I’ve got my driving license but I haven’t driven.. ever.. since the first day I got it. And that was round-a-bout 18 years ago!
