Has anybody used Draft 2 Digital?

Discussion in 'Self-Publishing' started by Partridge, Mar 24, 2020.

    Hello friends.

I am once again asking for your guidance.

For reasons I won't bore everyone with now, I decided to go with Draft 2 Digital to format and upload my first novel.

I have just jumped into this headlong a little bit, but I had a "now or never" kind of moment...

My manuscript and cover have been uploaded, and I have hit publish, asking for it to go out on the 3rd of April.
My question, is what the heck happens next? I was expecting D2D to be a little more self-explanatory, but I was wrong.

I have created my (currently empty) author page on Amazon, so I do have an account there. Will D2D ask me to link them to my account? Will they create an account for me, and give me the link or something when it has been processed and approved?

    I'm quite confused.

if you are using d2d for everything they'll upload the book to amazon via their kdp account. and to whatever other retailers you selected (if you chose to be in kindle unlimited you have to be exclusive to amazon with the ebook, if you didn't go into KU you can chose other retailers too - this is known as 'going wide')

if you are just using them for formatting but going direct to amazon you'll need to upload the book yourself (your log on for kdp will be the same as your main amazon account log on)

when the book is published you can claim it to your author page if it doesnt automatically link.

Personally i tend to suggest going direct to amazon (and to kobo if you aren't exclusive to amazon) and using d2d for the rest... i also don't rate them for formatting, but it may have improved since i used it a few years back

I had very recently uploaded my ebook on D2D. The book was already published on KDP (Amazon), but I had revoked my KDP Select status before going D2D. So, naturally, at the time of selection choice for KDP on the D2D publication page, I opted out against it . I got my book published on KOBO, Barnes and Nobles, Apple Books and Scribd through D2D. It is an automated and time bound process (takes around 24- 48 hours) with each individual publication, along with due notifications on email, when the book becomes live. Additionally, you may also want to publish on Google's - "Google Books" platform (an standalone one).
