How it feels working in hotels right now. The quarantine song. and my main song for April, and Spring. This one just...touches me deeply.
Classics! Old jazz is so great. I took a History of Jazz course in school and loved it. Our teacher loved reminding us that he played bass for Frank Sinatra for one gig (I would too). The combination of jazz and funk is such a great match. Snarky Puppy anyone?
@Historical Science - Re. VULFPECK You may have put me on to something here. Checked out a few of their numbers since hearing your post and I'm sold! I very rarely buy music (or listen to it for that matter) but I may have to make an exception for these. Brilliant! So refreshing and encouraging to see musicians (and under the age of 50) producing stuff like this!
Yes please. I love the keyboard solo on "Lingus." Seriously, those guys are so funky it's dangerous. I need to detox the funk out of my system after listening to Vulfpeck.
Yes! Vulfpeck has been one of my favorite bands for years now. All of their songs are studio takes and they release the video of every recording so it's really cool to see. They will leave in flaws and mistakes and all that. They are a bunch of music nerds through and through and have that awkward nerd humor in abundance. I saw them at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado (look it up if you don't know it) and they recently released their concert at Madison Square Garden on YouTube. Here's that MSG show:
The last three albums by Cattle Decapitation are fantastic. Each is in the top 10 of its year. The band's really on a tear. They're produced up here in my neck of the woods. Everybody, a host Everybody, infected Corpses white as a ghost Naturally selected This is my favorite track from the new album. When I used to have a gym treadmill (I remember the days!), I could go for miles and miles listening to this.
Are you familiar with Mark Lettieri? He's played with Snarky Puppy and Vulfpeck , among others. I ask only because he seems right up your alley.
I used to talk to this kid way back in the day. He sent me some of his work and it's some of my favorite stuff to listen to when my chest hurts from anxiety or because my heart's going too fast. Very calming. He's a lovely person, too. Incredibly fascinating and the way he finds music in the world around him is ridiculous.

I have an awful lot of their tracks to hear yet, but I think this is my favourite so far. Monica Martin's voice is gorgeous!
