Hi everyone, I have been a member on this forum for a little while now but have only just found the time to sit down and have a proper rummage through the board. It looks like there's quite a good bunch of people here and I am looking forward to interacting with you all. I should probably introduce myself then! I shall not reveal my real name, but my most common online handle is Gibdo Baggins. I am sure most of your know where the Baggins comes from, but I am sure much fewer of you know Gibdo. Ten points if you can get it without searching on Google If you see another Gibdo Baggins online anywhere, it will highly likely be me! I am originally from the UK but currently live in Japan. I have lived here now for over seven years and do not have any plans to return yet, but who knows what the future holds. I've wanted to start writing for a long time but like many people thought: a) I don't have the time or b) I will never succeed, so what's the point? Well, I decided to first off get over a, as I now realise that there is time to do anything if you really want it. As for b, I am less concerned with being 'successful', but certainly want to improve my ability to write with one day selling at least one book! In the mean time, I'll stick with the day job. My hobbies include: tennis, video games, reading (of course) and the, er, occasional tipple of the nearest alcohol (especially beer or gin!) I hope to make your acquaintance soon and look forward to all the advice and feedback you all can give. Cheers, Gibdo Baggins.
Welcome! And you live in Japan? I would love to go there myself one day, but I would go because of my obsession with anime ^-^ I hope you will enjoy this forum. I sure know I have.
Welcome! I'm Iain, one of the mods here. If you haven't had a chance to yet, be sure to check out New Member Quick Start and Forum Rules, and don't be shy about contacting me or one of the other mods (jannert, big soft moose, minstrel, and EFMingo) if you have any questions or problems. You'll need to have two weeks' membership, twenty posts (which include two constructive critiques of others' writing) before you can post in the Workshop for critique of your own work, but until then, feel free to poke around and jump into any one of the numerous discussions that are ongoing here. Those initial requirements will fly by. Nagoya, huh? I'm in Osaka, but the chances of us crossing paths are going to be pretty slim for the next few months, no? Keep safe up there, and I look forward to seeing you around the boards as we while away the hours of isolation (if Mr. Abe ever decides to ask).
Thank you for your kind words you definitely should visit one day. It's a great place to visit, especially if you do like anime.
Thanks Iain! Yes, I think travelling is not the best thing to do right now, but some day in the future. Who knows!
Hello, and welcome! I don't know who Gibdo is, sorry. But I hope you like it here and I hope it helps you conquer writing.
