Me: "I'll never be so bored that I'd painstakingly put down a path one square at a time in Animal Crossing: New Horizon."

    Me: *Does just that*

The lesson here, children, is that we know not what we'd do when we're bored.

I wanna go hiking. Bring along some Pink Floyd, camping stuff and a joint.

Last time I went hiking/camping two coyotes were fighting each other over some dead something. It was exhilarating to watch, but I was hoping to find a bear or two. No such luck. Perhaps Dark Side Of The Moon isn't their favorite album.

So bored I'm reminiscing old trips into the woods. Wow.

I was solo camping at Sequoia National Park a few years ago and woke up to the ground shaking. It was a bear stepping around my campsite. Now, I know you're supposed to make noise but that didn't seem like the best idea at that time. The bear certainly knew I was there and I didn't want to startle him/her so I just laid there in my sleeping bag motionless. I could just hear sniffing around the bear box (about 10-15 feet away) and every step shook the ground. That made it intense. It eventually left my area and went to check out some other campsites/bear boxes. Other people started making noise so I joined in. Some people even rushed into their cars and honked their horns. Apparently, this is pretty common in the Sierras but I'll definitely never forget that moment.

My son's cub scout pack 604 will tell the legend of his 'dad that killed a bear'.
At Gold Camp, I awoke to a neighbor yelling 'bear!' in order to frighten away a cub (I think). It really pissed me off to be woken so early, so I stomped out of the tent undressed and grabbed a nice softball-sized rock. My neighbor had stress in his voice, so I knew he had no backup plan if the mamma bear showed up. This no-end-in-sight realization was the last straw, there would be no going back to sleep. I had no stress in my roaring rage as I hucked the rock in the highest trajectory I could fling.
I was on projectile number three when all was suddenly silent, so I grumped back to bed.
Apparently my first launch had come straight down between the mamma and cub, and as they startled, the second came straight down on the ass of the bigger bear like a slap from God. They spooked away, never to return.
An hour later as I stumbled toward caffeine, a starry-eyed little Cubbie-scout says, "How did you kill that bear!"

Someday I'll tell you about the YMCA camp mini-bears! :D
(no, I didn't kill or throw any rocks on that trip)

Like any true folk legend you were raised by wolfs in the wilds.

As any conscious rat - I object violence against humans. It's not just about what you can do to people, it's also about what people can throw away for you.
