I think I've seen both on tools (as well as olive oil and CLP) and I don't have the Heinlein anymore. Google isn't helping.

Bikers on the side of the road in the gutter. Not on the sidewalk, the side of the road.

I know, I know, they've much of a right to the road as anyone else -- and not all cities (I.e., mine are biker-friendly.) Still, it's a tad annoying to have to get around them, especially in heavy traffic.

Waking up early and doing stuff. I woke up a full hour before my alarm and decided to get up and clean the kitchen up. Not that it was a wreck, I've just been slacking on washing the dishes. But now it's all clean and after work I'm going to fold laundry. Who am I?

This actually makes me inordinately upset. I love geology and natural formation. Paint covering naturally beautiful minerals gets a hard pass from me.

People getting their nips in a twist when a TV/film version of a character isn't identical to the smallest detail with their book counterpart.

OH, THANK YOU. Sometimes I feel like quite a grump over this issue, but you've made exactly the point I want to make. I'm not a geologist, but I respect rocks and like them as they are. They are natural formations. I wouldn't want to see people painting live trees or animals and slapping stupid slogans on them. (I also detest it when people put clothing, sunglasses, hats, etc, on dogs and cats.) Ditto rocks. Appreciate them for what they are. Don't try to make them into something they're not. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

What about bricks and what about quarries? Sculpture also?

Little kids painting their bumble bee pebbles - does appear disproportionate to me, although I hate a cairn/rock pile as much as the next man.

Technically that's the only legal place they can ride. And you're supposed to ride in the same direction as traffic, meaning cars are coming from behind you and you can't even see if you're about to get clipped or not. I always ride against traffic, especially if I need to get down into the street because people are walking on the sidewalk. But cops haven't bothered me about it except once or twice.

Ever see Casey Neistat's video about the danger of riding in the bike lane?

Anyone driving a car, especially the big white 4 x4s. Also people who catch aeroplanes, and the people who run aviation firms, like what's the point of being an aviation mogul? Why don't they just retire and do something else, Willy Walsh, Branson. Cruise liners, and my wife who yet again purchased a huge lump of plastic crap this morning. People who holiday in the Maldives, even Sri Lanka, India is excluded.

i meeeeeeean..... i am guilty of this.
I totally went on a rant about this after reading one book and Netflix turned it into a series. EVERYthing about it was changed, from the characters (the MC in the book was a scholar, the MC in the series was a boy crazy girl who was never seen doing anything scholarly) to the plot of the story (MC was being stalked by a spirit who has fallen in love with her, and eventually she goes crazy and accidentally OD's on a sleep drug and spends the book trying to get out of the spirit world and away from the stalker ghost guy while trying to figure out the truth about how he died and his fixation with her; the tv series, the stalker ghost guy is not romantically in to the MC but holds her father hostage in the spirit world, and tells the MC to figure out who killed him or he will never release her father from the spirit world).

I raged so hard and I'm not even ashamed

That's not really what I'm talking about. Those are major substantive changes.

    I'm talking about:

"OH MY GOD! Zuko is supposed to have GOLD EYES, not BROWN. What is wrong with people? Why can't they just get an actor who looks EXACTLY like the cartoon? I don't care that those phenotypes don't actually exist in the real world! FIND A BETTER ZUKO!!!!!!!! MY LIFE IS OVER!!!!"

    That. ;)

Motoko Kusunagi is probably suffering from cyberpsychosis due to her extensive and almost total body and brain cybernization. She has purple hair and blue eyes, HOW DARE THEY CAST A WHITE WOMAN TO PLAY HER??!?!?!?!???!?!

    Amirite?

That one was even harder to engage because, by and large, anime characters lean into a decidedly more western appearance in their renditions. When the GitS kerfuffle came to head, I watched a video where Japanese people in Japan (not in America) were asked about their take on the white-washing, and many of them commented that "it's anime, they always look western".

Or the Martian that was a dark turquoise in the book, but in the movie he's cyan and his vocal patterns are more reminiscent of the environs of Olympus Mons, rather than Mare Boreum where he's actually from. Pretty infuriating tbh.

I mean, in cases where the names are clearly depict a race and then that race is not cast as that character... that bothers me. For example, Noah as Aang in the live action Avatar.... (not going to comment on Ghost in the Shell because I did not watch the Scar-Jo movie, but on the surface, Kusanagi is a Japanese name and Scar-Jo is....not).
I was mad, too, about the live action of Fullmetal Alchemist because Edward Elrich and the main characters (who were/are depicted as european in a eurocentric country in the anime) were made Asian in the movie (the anime DOES have "Asian" and "middle eastern" characters but they were never depicted in the movie). Cant really fault it either because it was on Netflix Asia lol.
I wasnt too mad at Death Note because they adapted the characters and the names to fit a western audience (ex. Light Yagami from Tokyo became Light Turner from Seattle, Misa Amane became Mia Sutton, Ryuk became Willem Defoe).
Personally, I dont mind if liberties are taken and it is acknowledged and makes sense.

I read an article with the same sort of reactions. One said something to the effect of, "We don't cast Americans when we remake an American movie either." The negative reactions to casting on that one seem to have been mostly Western.

The fact that all deodorant and anti-perspirant sprays have the same generic smell. The only thing they have now as a selling point is that you can go 72 hours without washing, instead of the 12 hours of old.

I once went 21 days without a shower on a field exercise, but that was in Korea in the winter, so it's only 83% as bad as it sounds.

Is that a reservation like "Yes, neologism party of one, do you have anything available on Thursday night around 7?" or is it more of a "You, yeah you. I like those neurons you're squatting on. Howzabout you move over there and think on this little pronunciation issue for the rest of your existence? Don't get smart with me there, boy, I gotta case of beer right here that I can massacree your ass with if you don't behave."

Annoyed that last week I renounced eating entire recipes of cookies, cinnamon rolls, and bread pudding and put myself on dry salads* . . . and only lost a pound.

*Well, mostly on salads. But no cookies!

When you park, and the person next to you is backing out so you
hit your brakes cause you feel like your moving. I know it is an

Even better if you're driving a manual, panic, pop the clutch, and stall. I've done that at least three times that I can remember.
