I'm thinking it often has to do with tall, dark men who are a little too rugged and dominant, but she loves him anyway and he makes her feel all helpless and fluttery...

In fact I remember hearing somewhere that the majority of male leads in romance stories written by women tend to be vampires, werewolves, pirates, lawyers or doctors, or high-powered CEOs of their own companies. Or several of the above combined.

 

One of my favorite posts I've ever seen had the phrase "as she breasted boobily down the stairs." I'm laughing right now about it.

And cringing at my old saucy scenes. I read through some the other day, and oh dang. They're still kind of garbage, haha.

 

You know, I just realized—when I was trying to figure out politics and couldn't find anything real about the differences between liberals and conservatives aside from their political platforms (I was interested in their differences as people) what finally did it was when I thought to look up jokes about each by the other side. Instantly it became crystal clear, bearing in mind the deliberate distortions. Now I see that reading the romantic/sexual fanfic by males and females is the way to understand the dark secrets of each. The REAL stuff, free of political correctness and socially aware posturing. BINGO!!!

 

In the '60s there was a saying (no memes then) that "the revolution will not be televised," suggesting that people shouldn't expect the 6 o'clock news with Uncle Walter to verify what was going on outside the house. But here in the 2020s, with instant "news" I think we will all watch our society fall down around us. Without any reassuring avuncular perspective.

 

And you'll be able to watch footage of the exact same event with totally opposite framing depending on which kind of channel it's presented on.

 

I think those astronauts had the right idea about leaving this planet.

 

Um—you know they came back, right? Except for that one sent up by Elon Musk in the convertible. Maybe he'd send you up too if you ask nicely. You'd get a shiny space suit and your own Tesla.

 

And the whole solar system to drive it in.

 

What are you talking about? They're definitely still up there...

 

Oh, the latest batch? But they'll be coming back. Nobody has stayed yet, unless you count movies like Space Cowboys. And those are movies. Unless they're not telling us everything...

 

Of course I'm talking about the launch that just happened and of course I know they're coming back.

I barely even knew there had been a lunch. SpaceX, right? I have no cable and I avoid the news as much as possible, and I gotta tell ya, since I started doing this my stress and anxiety levels have dropped significantly. I only found out about the riots yesterday from a friend.

 

Right, but what was the difference?

 

Well, obviously liberals are wimpy dependent crybabies who think Government is Mommy and Daddy combined and should support everyone and protect us all from insults, and conservatives are God-loving oil-burning gun-toting a-holes who hate women and think there should be no social safety net at all.

 

Well, good to see that issue has been solved. Moving on...

 

Spent some time watching Priest tonight and it was just as bad in a good way as I remembered. Karl Urban is over the top, there's next to no decent plot, the dialogue is awwwwful, and Paul Bettany is hella fine. I'd say a few Our Fathers for him, if ya know what I mean.
