That makes me hungry. Jack's making lamb curry just now, and it smells great ...but somehow the freshness of lamb chops, new potatoes and mint sauce would be just the ticket for me just now.

Pease pottage for today. I wish I also made some yourshire pudding to go with it.

Lamb chops were fine. The return visit to the kitchen, the drinking the gravy boat memory brings great shame.

Chopped & seasoned pork cutlets, yellow pepper, onion and mushrooms. Frying those up till the peppers disappear into the ethos, then side it with rice.

Simple dinner. Should come out good.

I'm not really a fan of lamb outside of Mediterranean doner/gyros/shawarma, so I'd be down with that as long as it was a reasonable pizza.

I made myself eat some cold sausage because I haven't had any protein today and I guess that's important for vegetarians? I don't know. My mom always asks if I'm getting enough protein.

I don't feel like eating much else, but I might change my mind and have some pasta salad later.

A friend of mine is an ethical vegetarian on the milder end of things. While he reads Japanese pretty well, food labeling here is inconsistent and like the Catholics, the Japanese have a narrower definition of meat than "animal flesh." "Vegetarian" broths are often made with dried bonito flakes (katsuoboshi) included in them, as are green salads.

So he does his best but doesn't flip if he learns that something that he assumed was vegetarian isn't quite so.

But one thing that made me laugh was when told me that he drank Red Bull. It's not only vegetarian-friendly (from their web site: "Red Bull Energy Drink is suitable for vegetarians. Red Bull Energy Drink does not contain any animal products or substances derived from animals."), it's downright vegetarian-helpful according to him. "You see Iain, one problem us vegetarians have is a B12 deficiency. I'm not drinking this to wake up, I'm drinking it for my health!"

Pizza and some onion straws, which aren’t even remotely straw-shape. They better taste nice or I’ll have them under the TDA.

[edit] Those onion straws may have been nice, but given they were so spicy I wouldn’t know.

Despite there being nothing on the box that suggested they were spicy, I should have worked this out for myself, idiot that I am, because the product’s slogan makes it clear they’re a snack aimed at ‘Lads’ with “When you’re with your mates and get the munchies after a few drinks, we’ll be there for you!”. And of course you’re not a real ‘lad’ unless you like your food as hot as the sun.

Peanut butter and....and..no, not jelly. Just peanut butter on toasted oat bread. I'm trying to not piss off my diabetic body.

Oat bread has a plethora of fiber and the peanut butter has little sugar. A boring meal? Most definitely. But it gets the job done.

Chicken and cabbage casserole with toasted sourdough bread. Cabbage needed to be eaten up and I couldn't come up with another way to use it.

I really enjoy cooking...almost as much as I enjoy eating.

I'm having garlic roasted potatoes, honey roasted salmon with red onions and garlic pizza. Yes all for one!
My dog is having sweet potatoes with salmon and peas...she smells it and is all ready beginning to whine. hehe

I am not cooking this, but was browsing t'internet seeking inspiration for something to cook for the dear ol' mum and came across this recipe for caesar salad.

My kind of salad. Make a salad, cover it in mayo, pop a roast chicken on the top...

Guessing those are wagyu steaks? They won't need a whole lot of basting...! They look amazing.

Two excellent reasons! They certainly do look fukkin delicious.

I opted for a thin soup for the little old lady - chicken, spring onions, red onions, red pepper, and a few noodles. Very simple, tasty and nutritious; great for a 96 year old, but my stomach is wondering what the main course might be... ( another bowlful I guess )
