Do you mean specifically for wisdom teeth? As far as I understand most dentistry on adults only uses local anesthesia. That's all I've ever had, except when I was a kid and they'd put me under. I don't remember what it was when I got my wisdom teeth pulled though. For my dentist anyway, it seems kids get knocked out and then get a lollipop, adults just get local. And what's worse, the dentist wants to carry on a conversation while you have all the apparatus in your mouth and the big sheet of rubber stretched across.

Ah. That makes sense. The general anesthesia seems to make you a bit loopy afterward, but I suppose children aren't too cool with needles in their mouths. Although here, they use local or nitruous oxide.

Yeah, nitrous is what I was talking about, When they'd put me under as a kid that's how it was done. What do you mean by general anesthesia if not nitrous? A shot that knocks you out? Ok never mind, I looked it up, there are injected and inhaled general anesthetics, so I guess nitrous is one of them.

Also, I guess most adults will be driving home afterwards, you can't have them all loopy for that. But kids can be drugged to the gills so they won't be kicking and screaming.

My dentist once told me, before starting work, to "raise your hand if anything bothers you." He went to work, I raised my hand, he stopped, and I said, "I'm worried about the situation in the Middle East." He was only slightly amused, but at least he didn't hurt me.

My "uncle" (second cousin?) was my dentist when I was kid. He was a fucking quack. Not quite Steve Martin, but close enough. Maniacal grin and loopy eyes. I still have nightmares. And probably some Eastern European composite fillings that will lead to nutsack cancer.

I have never had one that stuck to Y/N questions, they
like to have full conversations. Must be some kind of
gift or taught at dental school to speak garbled gobbeldy

I was reading about feta cheese in order to figure out the origin and I stumbled upon a name, Feta Ahamada, who was a female sprinter from Comoros, thus I learnt about the Comoros island country, officially named as "The Union of Comoros", which is located on the eastern coast of Africa, in the Indian Ocean. I'd forgotten that in some places on earth, being gay is considered a punishable crime. Anyhow, from there I went to read on about the Islamic Law and learnt that "Jihad" means "to strive or struggle in the way of God" or "to strive to attain religious and moral perfection". I just found that interesting because I've heard this word many a times in the news but never really bothered to know about its meaning or origins.

Jesus, all that from Feta cheese? As far as cheese goes, it's good but not earth shattering. Not to be hating on feta, but it plays itself out beyond salads and wraps. Maybe pizza, but only in a complimentary role.

Was this really a random thought or should it have been posted in Useless Facts?

That’s where I’ve been for years now. I don’t even want to read fiction. My poetry has also ground to a halt.

Funny how something you were once passionate about can dessert you so completely.

I first heard of Jihad in a piece about Haj. Apparently, it refers to the internal struggle for peace within you while on Haj. My take away was that Jihad had nothing to do with war until it was misused and misconstrued.

Weed cancels out the negative effects of alcohol.

And I know EXACTLY what to do with this information.

Mrs. A got me some beyaz peynir, which is basically the Turkish take on feta cheese, a couple weeks ago. Black olives, cheese, bread, and jam for breakfast woo-hoo!

I’m currently at the ‘don’t like writing’ stage, but there was a time when I almost hated it... or at least the idea of it. Although that was probably back when I thought I wanted to do it. Once I let it go I hated it less.

I watched a very good movie concerning a dancer in the National Georgian Ensemble called And Then We Danced. Kartvelian languages... fascinating! But more fascinating is the dive into Georgian cuisine and the ubiquitous presence of tomatoes.

Tomatoes are originally (and in their origin, exclusively) from the New World, yet they permeate "traditional" dishes everywhere.

What did people eat before the coming of the New World Nightshades?
