    Hi there, aspiringkindlewritier!

I’m one of the forum moderators, and I want to welcome you to the forum. I'm so sorry, but it looks as if you got shunted way down the New Member Intro queue and missed out! This can happen if lots of new people join up at one time. I'm glad I just checked the list again. Yeeks.

Anyway, no harm done, I hope. I suspect from what you said that you're attempting to write for self-publication? If so, you'll find quite a few of 'us' here on the forum ...and successfully self-published and selling well. So that's a good goal these days. Are you an experienced writer at all? What kind of novels do you hope to write? Have you got a favourite genre?

    Anyway...

In order to help you get oriented and get settled, here are a couple of links I strongly recommend that you read at the start, if you haven’t already. They will give you a good idea of how we operate here on the forum:

    New Member Quick Start

    Forum Rules

You will notice in the New Member Quick Start that in order to post your work in the Workshop area—the only area of the forum where you are allowed to post your work and ask for feedback—you will need to do at least two critiques for other people, in exchange for receiving feedback on one of your own pieces of work.

This site is designed around the concept of members helping each other out by ‘paying it forward’—through our two-for-one critique system. So do two critiques, THEN you can post something of your own. This advance 2:1 ratio lasts as long as your membership here—although it is your own responsibility to keep track of your own ratio. The software doesn't keep track of it for you, beyond your first two critiques.

In order to help you get started doing critiques, here is a link to a good article written by one of our former moderators: https://www.writingforums.org/threads/constructive-critiques.20627/

One of the popular areas of our forum is our contest section. There is a monthly contest running for Short Stories, Flash Fiction and Poetry. You can enter these ongoing contests, even as a new member. And we really encourage you to visit the site, read the current entries, and vote for your favourite when the voting period starts. This means a lot to the people who have written these entries. And it will also give you a good idea of what our members are capable of writing.
    https://www.writingforums.org/writing-contests/

While the Role Playing Game section is not new, it’s being given a revamp. So if you are interested in playing and writing Role Playing Games, you might want to visit this section and get in on the fun. https://www.writingforums.org/threads/resurrecting-the-dead-rpg-section-rebuild.165055/

I hope you have fun getting to know us and let us get to know you, via the posts you make. Please feel free to explore the forum. There is a lot under the hood. This site map might help you find your way around more quickly than the menu bars do, so feel free to use it. https://www.writingforums.org/faq/

If you encounter any difficulties, don’t hesitate to contact me or one of the other moderators, whose names appear in yellow at the bottom of the Community page. We will be glad to help.

Again, welcome! And sorry you had to wait so long.

    Cheers for now,
    Jan

No worries, I started on tumblr basically writing smut and ships that include smut as a ghost writer, while it proved some what lucrative, I felt some what stunted in terms of what I wanted to write. It was the same formulaic tired things all the time. Basically I'm trying to branch out from my preset limitations for pay, to testing my own ideas on the kindle market. My favorite genre is mostly romance, horror, and erotica, I've found that its easy to cross over. I'm trying to release my own erotic novel. I also found found I'm heavily inspired by isekei anime and manga.

I haven't seen any anime or manga, just a few random moenomiya(?). My inspiration comes from a years-long continuing nightmare that I am writing for sanity's sake. It has led me to much awareness about sensuality. Happy to discuss, anytime. Had no idea erotica made any money. Lol.
See you in the threads. :)

it depends on the market your going for, I went for tumblr and I am trying to gun for kindle, tumblr while it can make money (at the cost of your sanity, and or soul) is a very niche market. If you like shipping, fursonas, and bad mary sues and don't mind taking diction from customers essentially wanting to fuck a fictional character in the same way, well you can find yourself more than well enough to buy a bottle of grey goose to drown you sorrow in. However say the wrong thing, and boom your income can shrivel up. I made of a bit of a fucky wucky, and said sex work is exploitative and I'm not going to write or draw anymore stories because of my own personal morals of not wanting to glorify it and what little fanbase was vastly outnumber by a horde of people saying I'm kink shaming them. Lukily I keep my erotic works seperate from my main source of income, because if they found my fivver and onlyfans, lol I'd be booted so hard off that platform. I only used like only fans for early access to stuff like books, or artwork. Kindle still has the potential to make money.

That sounds like a niche, right there. "Send me a full nude of your lady's spread snatch and girly-bits, and I'll write her into a sex-goddess fuck-fantasy."

sometimes they want shit no amount of vodka in the world will wash away, part of reason why I eventually fucked off, was because I said no I'm not writing nor drawing your 2d waifus with unrealistically huge anime tiddies in positions where they're obviously are being exploitecd monetairilly buy your oh so definately not a mary sue character. for the 100th time. then some dipshit got mad because I refused their request, shared my not to nice tumblr post and next day my whole entire blog was brigaded by sex workers and jackasses who just wanted to be assholes, so I just I went full nuclear and deleted it and I'm deciding to switch to a less disagreeable niche. I mean granted it was only giving me 200 extra a week, but the amount of time it took to actually write and sometime illiustrate while kissing asses out weighed it.
