This. I went a bit too heavy on the bourbon, but that's all right.

Ah, premier league soccer! I gather they're back on the field over there, since the last lot we saw had Black Lives Matter printed on their jerseys. That part's nice, but I worry they'll all get sick.

We never get decent soccer (the North American men can't complete a long pass if their lives depend it, but the American women are good) on weekends - just road-accident style American football and incredibly boring golf ... and sometimes even more stupefyingly dull poker ... on the sport network??

Foodwise, tonight it's cheese doodles mixed with masala munch for a little bite.
    Empty calories - yum.

I've no interest in football but a couple of nights ago while at a friend's house they had a match on. Whenever the ball went out for throw-in, someone would pick it up, throw it to a nearby player, who would then throw it to the guy taking the throw-in. A few minutes later a steward came out to spray disinfectant on the corner flag pole.

    The mind boggles.

Hope to get a couple more hours of market research in before dinner. Right now I'm feel like having a couple bologna and cheese sandwiches.

Made gougeres. Instead of butter and water I used the cold dripping off some lamb ribs I had on Saturday and some of the broth I made from the bones. Swiss cheese, since I had no Gruyere.

Made a chopped mushroom filling that extended to five of them (they're little). After that, I've been eating them plain.

    Too many of them.

Drinking beer, eating fried sardines like a brute. You eat all of it as it is. Nothing goes to waste. In their universe I'd be portrayed as the bad dragon. Sardine eyes, bones and tails stuck between my teeth.

Tonight I've done vegan Paella (I know! Please don't throw things!)

I'm an omnivore myself, but the husband is a vegetarian and I love to cook, so it's either eat what he eats or have a steak!

Damn it, I'm talking myself out of it again, aren't I?

It's a BOSH! recipe and it was the nicest thing I've had in a long old time: Flame roast some red peppers, fry them off in saffron-toasted oil, toss in artichoke hearts, sprouting broccoli, green beans and peas, simmer down in vegetable stock before stirring in some risotto rice. It was like a unicorn let me eat a chunk of its haunch. Bloomin' wonderful.

When he goes to bed, I eat an entire dripping ham, similar to the ones that are in the Flintstones.

Burgers, potato salad, cucumber and onion vinegar salad. Meant to have corn on the cob too but I forgot to check and the store is closed now.

Not the proudest 4th of July, but I'll still celebrate it in my own small way.

Chinese-born wife is making steam buns filled with Chinese-BBQ chicken. And some tofu-and-soybean soup. I'm watching and encouraging her, and will set the table later -- and clean the kitchen after. Seems a fair deal.
