Why is the third Hobbit film so difficult to get hold off? Every DVD exchange place I've tried so far have multiple copies of the first two, but never the third. Even online it costs three times that of the first two.

Are you making the mistake of wanting the films to follow the book, or did it make you angry for a different reason? I find it easier if you don't get too precious about source material. If they're done well I can enjoy any interpretation, regardless of how faithful (or not) they are.

I was about to say the same thing (using slightly less colourful images) as @big soft moose . He got here first, but the Mod team are all on the same page with this issue. Let me remind everybody about our Free Speech policy here:

And to remind everybody: this is a writing forum.

There was a sound bite on the news this morning, of a restaurant owner thanking his customers for observing the social distancing rules on his first night of re-opening. He then went on to reassure them by saying, “When you sit down at your table everything on there - the plates, dishes, glasses and cutlery - have all been washed and polished.

So what are you saying? That if it weren’t for corona they’d all be eating off unwashed tableware??

    Lol. :D
Well, all the COVID-related things we've taken to doing should have been present the entire time, in my opinion. In Japan, people wear face coverings when they're outside and worry that they're sick, they observe social distancing anyway, everything is washed and re-washed... I'm glad we're starting to take these measures everywhere else as well.

Well they don’t have to polish, but one would hope they’re at least washing the pots, corona or no corona.

Lol I'm the opposite. The big, human eyes are uncanny. The black eyes are just like a black colon in text form.

There's not following the source material and there's shoehorning in a scene where you try to drown a dragon in molten gold to give the 3d animators something lest they fall idle. That's the least of Peter Jackson's sins in stretching the book out to three films in a quest for more money.

Sometimes my stomach’s grumbling sounds exactly like pigeons cooing quietly in the eaves of distant rooftops.
