This is one of the favourite pieces of dialogue I’ve written (the third paragraph):

“Your most beautiful companion is correct, my stunning Khajiit friend.” Finds-Things-Not-Lost had joined the group and stared with open admiration at the sight of Revna. “This armour was found in a tomb, sealed airtight for centuries. It was the armour of a great and feared warrior of the Ra Gada. Known only as Scorpion Black, it was said no mortal blade could penetrate his armour and that he, himself, could not die.”

“What happened to him?” Tilly had sidled up to her companions, trying to get close to Itagaki, but she moved away, seeming to ignore her.

“He died. It was quite unexpected.” Finds-Things shrugged and waved a dismissive hand, “But his armour remained complete. I have had experts examine this armour and they have assured me it is as if it was made yesterday. It is magnificent, is it not? And you paid far less for it than I am happy with.”

This is from a mutant/superhero genre story I'm working on.

"Oh you have got to be kidding me," with a sigh Mercedes stabbed the Epi-pen into her thigh. "I get all these wonderous superpowers and my weakness isn't glowing space rocks or a having to recharge a magic ring, noooooooo. I can get killed by flippin' peanuts!"

If you can't tell by the comment Mercedes has a potentially lethal food allergy which her mutation doesn't correct, so yes, her weakness is peanuts.

This one's a little on the saucy side.

"Hey Bro, can we stop by the novelty shop?" April said. Still driving down the road Victor nearly did a double and had to make a quick correction to stay in his lane.

    "What the... hell no!"

"Aww, why not?" April tried to put on her most dejected expression and even pouted a little, but it wasn't working this time. Still shaking his head a little Victor couldn't believe she'd even asked him something like that. There weren't many things that made him self conscious though walking out of a 'novelty shop' was on the short list.

"First of all you're not eighteen. Secondly I know what your after and it'll be a cold day in HELL before I walk into a porn store and buy a giant rubber pecker."

"Okay. I'll meet up with your friends and try not to puke all over them if I must, but must I?"

"Meet up with my friends or try not to puke over them?"

"I'll be benevolent and let you choose."

“I know what you are. I still care for you.”

“Do you, really? Can you care for this?” He pulled at the torn skin and fatty layer of his arm, revealing the biomechanical structures below.

“I don’t care about what you’re made of. You’re still a human being.”

“I’m not. That’s the point of my existence."

Note for context: the quoted character just slew a king, allowing the king's branch family to take over the kingdom.

"Loathsome is the king whose very kin wishes death upon him... and so House Aldaia begins its rule, without a tyrant to curse the kingdom's name."

    Hi,

Alright there's a lot of backstory to this. But my character has essentially had a bunch of neo-nazi's try to rape her, and she's had to beat them into hospital. There's only one left - the leader - and he hates her because she's a white woman who's recently turned black - and her alien friends have just arrived and dropped off a rifle for her. So he starts running and she takes aim and blows his privates off from behind. Then after a bit more stuff, she walks back to the press who've seen the whole thing and delivers two lines.

"First a public service announcement. Always keep your Nazi's spayed and neutered!"

And then because she's also smoking hot and in a bikini she raises her rifle above her head and tells them:

    "The bimbos back!"

I laughed myself silly writing that.

    Cheers, Greg.

My character has recently crushed a draka-analogue:

"I am everything you wish you were." She fires the gun, and a dozen power armoured gene-modded soldiers died, the bullets splitting into a dozen deadly flechettes. "I am the true rising sun to pale imitations." She punched the nearby cybertank, and it detonated, undergoing catastrophic structural failure as a golden fist mulched its armour. "I am the harbinger of all those whom you have wronged." Above the screams of dying soldiers and exploding ammunition, came the sounds of the newborn rebel army coming in, ready to storm the now-open gates and destroyed defenses. "I am your judge, jury, and executioner." A single sweep of her hand, and space warped. 30 soldiers who were attempting to flank her were turned to mulch, their bodies turned into a red paste.

    "I am your end."

    From the plan...

Michael: A game against the fair folk is rarely just about the pieces on the board, Brynjar. Your brother may have found his own way to win.

    Hi Fred,

That's part of the backstory. But in essence she used an alien tanning drug - their version of the so-called barbie drug - because she was an ex-CIA agent and needed to disguise herself as she was being hunted. Things unfortunately went a little weird science!!!

    Cheers, Greg.

Narration around the character, but it's perspective-linked and it's a perfect expression of the energy that makes him enjoyable.
"It was at this point that Loen decided something was very wrong. Gravely wrong. That was not something he dealt with very often. Loen Inezal’s usual idea of grave was when all his tomatoes died, or he made several spelling errors in a paper. This was an altogether different breed of threat."

“It’s also got an article about the British embassy. It’s called ‘Embassy in
log flume massacre’.” Behind them someone threw a grenade at an albatross.

From the closest thing I ever got to writing a novel, when I was fifteen and less self-conscious. The novel was almost oppressively silly, and transparently desperate to make like Douglas Adams.

    EDIT: Just for good measure:

Atlantis was, he suspected, no more dangerous than Johannesburg, where had spent a short while whilst waiting for the authorities in Cape Town to forget about him. It was certain to be less dangerous than Calcutta or Gloucester. Yet if life had taught him anything - and it had - then it was not to feel any safer in a city just because you’d been mugged, beaten unconscious, threatened with mass buggery or forced to run for you life in some even worse city.
