System is down at work. Again. Wouldn't be a problem except I haven't been able to clock back in. We're supposed to be technologically sound as a bank. Thank goodness our customers don't know how frequently our system crashes.
My interwebs blinked for a half-hour last night. Such are the tribulations we endure in a world going mad. On the bright side, the world has a ways to go before it catches up to me.
Got banker friends who say the same thing: "If you knew the stuff we fuck up you'd be stuffing your mattress."
Dunno, but I do have a colleague who is tenured and whose master's is in public transportation planning (or something like that, we were drunk when the topic came up. Nothing to do with English or education or anything like that, but they seem to be good at their job, so...)
My across the street neighbors, the ones with all the dogs, one of their dogs is in very bad shape. It's been crying and howling all night, clearly in terrible, terrible pain. It's been days now and they haven't taken care of the matter. They haven't taken the dog to the vet or anything. I called the cops. Nothing. Abso-fuckng-lutely nothing. It's breaking my heart to hear that dog. I offered to shoot it (yes, I fucking did) because the animal is suffering horribly. No, I can't shoot it. No, the cops won't come. No, they aren't taking care of it. I hate everything about all of this. Every fucking molecule.
Oh, the poor thing!!! We lost one of our dogs almost a week ago, details are in my blog, so reading this brought the water works right back on. People like that shouldn't be allowed to have pets of any kind.
People think that because you are enforcing the rules that you are overdoing your job. This isnt even about wearing masks... We open our doors, allowing each guest 1 hour to use as they choose. We are only allowed to have a certain amount of people in at a time, so EVERYONE gets an hour. We give you time stamps too let you know. I had someone yell at me because he hour was up telling me that i am over doing my job. Security came and she yelled at security. I am so done with people today
I have to study for the PSC exam for asst. professorship (in English literature) at a govt college. The syllabus is so boring. Sometimes i go on a compulsive drive to study. After that I hit a terrible exhaustion. I see another bout of compulsively driving myself to studying approaching!
Hearing this has really upset me. You ought to be able to shoot the neighbours then take the dog to the vet. Are there no animal welfare organisations where you are? Please do your utmost to help this animal. Thank you.
Oh fucking hell, Gates's Monster has just updated and I had to deal with five minutes of ads for "What's App," which I Justin Wilson Garonfuckingtee I have never used, downloaded, or even glanced at, plus ten minutes of ads for Microsoft Internet Explorer in its newest lying slag skin (which I also don't use) plus multiple requests to "update my information" from programs (fuck "apps") that I may or may not have used on my non-networked, hand-me-down-TRS-80 Model 1 back in the late 80s.
Fuck me, the update has gone and forgotten my Scrivener code again. All software developers must burn.
Ugh so my husband needs 2 root canals to relieve him of terrible tooth pain and it's gonna cost $618 and they want half up front. And that's AFTER insurance! WTF. ETA: Just talked to him and that's just for the anesthesia...they want another 2 GRAND for the actual root canal and the crown. Ughhhhhh
For the last few weeks we've had a cat frequenting the depot at work (frequenting as in all day every day). It's friendly enough to tentatively approach for a stroke and certainly for the food and titbits various staff and workers have been giving it, but one guy has been saying for some time now that he plans to catch it and re-home it. Now I have no concerns whatsoever for the cat's well-being, and I'm in doubt his intentions are sincere (if maybe driven by the prospect of payment from whoever takes it) but he says the cat will have to go in his daughter's bedroom until a lady he knows who re-houses cats can call and pick it up. Today, at the end of work, he caught it and put it in a cage in the back of his car... and it's sort of ruined my whole weekend. The cat was happy where it was. It was clearly fending for itself admirably and was in very good condition (that's if it was indeed living wild at all, and not just visiting from a nearby house). It had the freedom of the wild (the depot is situated in parkland with a beautiful river on one side, and fields and woodland on the other. It could come and go as it pleased... free as a bird as all animals should be. Now, it's going to spend heaven knows how long locked in a bedroom until it's re-homed.
I had the whole thing done in less than 150$ and that without any insurance. Come to india! Health care is cheap down here.
