    What compells you to write?
New ideas - usually when I feel they are possibly worthy of sharing.
But it's also compulsive. Creation, be it drawing or writing, is my first thought in the morning and the last thought at night.

    Why do you write?

    Because I'm a selfish junkie.
Creation is my fix and my reason of being. I don't feel well when I don't create for some time, I grow depressed, slow, even feel a loss of identity. I need some. So I either write or draw - usually the latter.
But I also want to make others accept me. I want to lay all my inner weirdness out for the world to see, lay it out beautifully, and be admired for the result. I want to breathe life into fictional beings, to create worlds of wonder and submit real people to them. And I don't see fictional places as an escape: I believe our world is made of wherever our mind can be, it does not matter how fictional it is - if it affects your mind it's real enough, especially if you can share it. So I want to be one of the pioneers who expand reality, in an age crammed with random info and people who need space. But I'm doing it for me. For the little glory I feel after seeing another piece completed. Maybe, someday, I'll be the creator of an imaginary land with thousands of refugees from reality: and I'll be the beginning of all.
But even without that, as long as I keep making piece after piece, I can keep on living.

What makes you write what you write?
    Myself. Wasting inspiration is unholy.

What made you decide you liked to write?
Books were my nanny. I could read since I were four. So the tendency sort of grew in my veins - even when I don't write it lurks in my subconscious.

    What Do You Write?
Depends. When I studied materials science, I were into sci-fi. Before that I were into fantasy and fairytales. Now I've returned after several years of inactivity, and I'm mostly into comics: they have both art and story, so they're perfect.

    What compels you to write?
I dream of going into a bookstore and seeing my book on the shelf. (A library works too!)
    Why do you write?
I write because I have a story I want to get out, actually I have a few, but one at a time. I've always made up stories in my head and I decided that why not put them to good use and write them. Maybe something good will come from it.
What makes you write what you write?
I feel like I'm more of a sheltered teenager, and it makes it worse that I'm super quiet and don't have a lot of friends. So, I don't get to do a lot of stuff. I've never been invited to a party, or gone to the mall with friends in my own car. Based on my WIP, I think it's sort of a way I can do things I'd never get to do or want to do in real life. It's almost a sort of safe exploration type deal.
What made you decide you like to write?
I like writing because it's a way I can make the stories in my head "real" in a sense, and it's completely free to do.
    What do you write?
Currently, just what my WIP is, YA fiction. But I may try other genres down the road.

Writing is something that comes naturally to me, even when I find it hard to motivate myself to work. Why do I write? I suppose I write because I'd otherwise feel that something's missing in my life. The thing about writing that I find the most exciting is the feeling when you create something new, that no one before has thought of.

    What compels you to write?
At the moment, getting as close as possible to mastering the craft. I want to see how far it all can go.
    Why do you write?
There are things, many of them, I need to express which I couldn't any other way. I write because I'm a searcher, and a finder, and it's probably in my nature to keep searching what I've found until I've exhausted it. Also, I was born to create.
What makes you write what you write?
A need to make things beautiful in one way or another. Sometimes it's the exigencies of life that decide what I write.
What made you decide you like to write?
My mind needs it to keep order. I don't like disorder, therefore I like to write.
    What do you write?
So far I've written stories about people I like, or want to be like, or want to understand. Occasionally cryptic dialogues inspired by random things.

I write because I have to. I have stories in my head and they have to come out somewhere. They're not going to stop, therefore I'm not going to stop writing them down.

    What compels you to write?

Nothing at all. I wish it did. I wish I had a driving urge to create. I really do.

    Why do you write?

    Twofold.
One: I want to create imaginary worlds, like blankets to crawl into and curl up inside.
Two: I would really, really like to nail the craft. I enjoy honing skills. I like becoming competent at something. Feeling and seeing my ability develop. Improving the stuff I can do as well as I can, and, incrementally grafting on new elements that I couldn't do before.

What makes you write what you write?

Same as above. I want to create immersive worlds filled with colourful characters and magical powers. I guess it's the inner child (or whatever you want to call that aspect of each of us).

What Made you decide you liked to write?

It was my thing as a kid. I wrote books. Numerous. I even had my own publishing house :p

    What Do You Write?

    Urban fantasy. YA.

What compells you to write? I get tired of books that are not to my liking and it inspires me to write my own. And my desire to see readers enjoying my writings.
Why do you write? Nothing much to say except I do it because I love it! I feel so immersed into the worlds I create and the characters all feel so alive and real. Only others with a love for writing will ever understand how I feel. And with poetry love to tell stories of my life and feelings in the form of a poem because it's just another way of self expression.
What makes you write what you write? When it comes to the non fantasy books I write I feel like everything I write is a product of personal preferences and my life experiences. Growing up in an extremely sheltered lifestyle and never really having friends makes me want to write about either people with groups of friends out and about enjoying life, or extremely isolated people.
When it comes to fantasy and horror I just enjoy it because I love to create these dark tense scary situations and help my characters figure out how to escape.
What Made you decide you liked to write? Ever since my parents taught me how to write and I was old enough to formulate sentences I knew it was something I wanted to spend my life doing. I can't think of anything that inspired me except that I just liked writing words. Maybe it was hop on pop

    What compells you to write?
If I don't write some of these ideas down, I'm gonna forget them in ten seconds.

    Why do you write?
I enjoy creating worlds and playing God. In a way, it's my ultimate middle finger to the sky fairy himself. Probably why I write so much demonic stuff. I'm going to hell and I know it.

What makes you write what you write?
Boredom, mostly. Also movies that I watch because if I don't pick the movie my family will make me watch Twighlight, and I would seriously rather die.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
A little boy with a dragon hatchling named Jathan Elias Flame, my first ever character. Over time, as the story kept getting scrapped and reincarnated, Jathan and his dragon did a fusion dance and now Jathan is a demi-dragon with a twin sister who is also a demi-dragon.

    What Do You Write?
A lot of supernatural, a little sci-fi, sci-fantasy, I've got a couple crack/slashfics going on (Natsu and Happy vs a Misincarnated Salamander, anyone?)

    What Compels You To Write:
The ideas have to exit my mind in some form, and writing is the easiest way to express the stories, for me at least. But soon I hope to start getting them out there in the form of movies
    Why Do You Write:
Because I want to get the stories out there for others to experience
What Makes You Write What You Write:
I get inspiration from other stories, or literally anything. A certain picture can spark an entire story within ten minutes and there you go. I want to create something that I'm proud of and that reflects me, yet also reflects whatever the source of inspiration is. I also want to share it with others to see what they think and allow them to experience it and enjoy it
What Made You Decide You Liked To Write:
I wrote down a couple of paragraphs to this random story I got from one of my dreams and thought it sounded nice so I kept going and lucky for me I enjoyed doing it
    What Do You Write:
I write thriller, sci-fi, and dramatic pieces. It doesn't have to be a specific genre, as long as I think it's a good story and would be something someone might want to read then I'll write it. I just don't write fantasy, that is an overly done genre to me. Keywords to me. Don't get angry

    What Compels You To Write:
That satisfaction of feeling all the words click into place.
    Why Do You Write:
I like surprising myself. I like discovering new, more exciting ways to tell the story I had in mind.
What Makes You Write What You Write:
Thinking of something maybe no one in the world has ever thought of before. I can't write variations on done subjects, for me it's much more compelling to find the unexplored niches, the hashtags with nothing in them yet. I'll probably never have wide appeal, and that's fine with me.
What Made You Decide You Liked To Write:
Good old positive feedback, at first. Then I realized I just liked doing it for its own sake.
    What Do You Write:
Middle Grade, sci-fi, Middle Grade sci-fi. Fanfiction.

    What compels you to write?
My imagination. Coming up with ideas is something I do casually all the time, and I feel compelled to turn them into something.
    Why do you write?
I enjoy doing it, it means I can share my ideas, and it's a productive challenge and learning opportunity.
What makes you write what you write?
I enjoy fiction from those genres in a fundamental sense, which is to say, the basic format of the genre is appealing to me. And I would like to see how I do making my own version, trying to improve some common faults I have seen and introduce new elements.
What Made you decide you liked to write?
Shortly after I decided to start writing one of my ideas properly I found it was definitely worthwhile for me to do.
    What Do You Write?
My WIP, and main work in general, is a hidden world type of urban fantasy drama. It follows multiple POV characters navigating the fictional world and its struggles, both separately and as a group.

    What compells you to write?

The love of creating worlds and characters and entertaining people with my stories. The best feeling in the world is when I come up with a new idea that absolutely rocks.

    Why do you write?

I write to hopefully build a portfolio of great stories and eventually build a career.

What makes you write what you write?

Reading Garth Nix and Stephen Hunt novels and getting lost in their crazy, intense worlds.

What Made you decide you liked to write?

When I decided to knuckle down and actually finish my debut novel, finishing it after 14 years. Going back over it and changing odd things was hugely rewarding and made me want to carry it on full time.

    What Do You Write?

Anything compelling. At the moment, fantasy.

    1. Nothing. Edit: on reading my answers maybe "myself" is a more accurate answer.
    2. Because i must.
    3. Because there is a whole world inside my brain and it would be a crime not to let those people and places be known.
    4. I don't like it. It frustrates me endlessly. However.... as i said in q2: i write because i must.... because i would be immensely hollow if i hadn't known this world, and i would be an asshole if i kept it to myself.
    5. Fantasy. (However i do fully intend to have a series and branch out with one of the books to be a psychological one that follows a certain character's fall into madness as seen by people around him. (Think how jaime lanister explained why he killed the king in asoiaf just over 400 pages)

I write because I can't not. I write because I want to share the stories I contrive. I write because fuck all and I have to. I hope people love it when I'm through, but if they don't, at least I tried.

Here's why I write: it may seem a little silly, but I want to literally see my dreams come true. I had dreams and original ideas that meant so much to me, they deserved to be turned into a story, because they were a story. One that only I could tell. And that was something I eventually wanted to share with people.

I've got too many ideas in my head, so they might as well go somewhere, right? Plus, I think it'd be cool to make something that people talked about.

Though I guess it's more of a hobby for me than a true passion.

I write because it keeps me sane. No word of a lie. I also write because it's the only thing I think I'm good at, and the only thing that really makes sense.

It's definitely a form of therapy. When I sit down to write, I can close the door and forget about what's happening around me. It's my time where I can get my thoughts together and put something down on paper, even if it's not very good. A writer should always try, because most of it is trial and error and making mistakes but learning along the way. And it's never a waste of time. If it grounds you and makes you happy, you've won. And one day, you may even get published. It's good to carry your dreams with you as you write, so long as you don't set your mind so much on success that you forget to really graft. The more you do, the more you become that frustrated author you've always dreamed of being.

Me too. And my stories are a 'second life' - when I'm there - really there - I live them.

I personally do not like writing that much, however I have a lot of worlds and events that are running wild in my head: entire battles where whole worlds burn, impressive stories of people overcoming adversity, rage filled people and creatures capable of extreme acts of violence and so on.

I feel the urge to share all that I see and feel in my head with other people.

That sounds frustrating. Have you explored any other media? Such as graphic novels/comic book formats? Maybe writing isn't your thing, but these kinds of outlets might be? If you're not sure that you can draw this well, maybe explore taking a course that would help you learn?
