Broke out the jam and buttered toast again tonight. Kind of amazing how when I'm not hungry, but know I have to eat, that's the perfect meal for me.

Where's the meat? It's hiding beneath the squashes, right?

Yes, where is the beef? The American beef industry can start producing quality steak any day now. My distributors still want $25 for porterhouse and $23 for tomahawk. And it's loose cryo dogshit from a cow that died in March. I get that the supply chains went tits up, but the wolf is at Uncle Homer's door.

I know those are wholesale prices, but... Rule of thumb is $1=¥100, so move the decimal point two spaces left. 400g is ≈1lb, 1kg=2.2 lb.

Your Ratatouille looks so beautiful. Much more organised than mine. I just throw everything in... the potatoes though always at the bottom to suck the oils.

Since I'm currently under-employed I've been hitting up the local farmer's market every week, and it's resulted in EVEN MOAR vegetarian meals. This week I have three on the menu - ratatouille, beet risotto and eggplant parmesan!

My dude, I am paying $6.99/lb for 80/20 hamburger at retail and honestly what the f*ck? Chicken and pork is up a bit but what the actual hell is up with beef prices?

There's something really zen for me about layering a ratatouille like that.

    1. Every restaurant in America shut down.
    2. Several hundred billion dollars disappeared from the American food market.
    3. Every farm, butcher, meat processing plant, and distributor in America stopped making food.
    4. Prices increased to keep the aforementioned solvent.
    5. Supply did not respond to demand.
    6. Production did not respond to supply.
    7. Every industry along the supply line became decimated.
    8. Now there's no food, no demand, no supply, and no infrastructure to make the food happen even if people wanted it.
