That was incredible! It’s like a Hammer Frankenstein film!! It was nothing like that here. I’m very jealous. Where in the UK was this??
That’s pretty amazing but I don’t believe it for one second. That photo has been manipulated beyond recognition.
No, that's exactly what was happening. Photos are now coming in from all over central Scotland, showing similar things. That's why it was so spectacular. We had a more even cloud cover for most of the two hours I was watching, but several times I got that huge white central flash, as if there was some big sun behind it ...not the usual bolt kind of thing. I was staring straight at it when it went off once time, and it did temporarily affect my vision. It was very bright.
No, I’m not saying it’s not a real shot, just that it’s had all sorts of filters and settings applied in post.
Midlands, Staffordshire. I can only imagine how much worse it might have been for some folks, closer to the south coast and London, where the temperature is a few degrees even higher.
Central Scotland was absolutely jumping last night. It's a shame about the flash floods and all that else where in Scotland but, the lightning was something else.
Oh! We had this kind of phenomenon past Saturday. Perhaps it's connected somehow. It was beautiful. It lasted for hours.
Last night, I went to Cascade's Supper Club for the first time since March. The owners seemed thrilled to see me as I was them. We had a wonderful chat. I had a big plate of French fries for dinner which was very good. I'm happy that place is open again.
I called in sick today because my depression has finally demanded I pay attention to it, and I have spent all day watching Star Trek while working on a creative project. I'm not happy, just glad I was able to actually focus on something other than the mess happening in my thoughts. This project is keeping me centered and here instead of letting my brain get stuck in a loop of negativities and destructive thoughts.
I'm glad you could support your local restaurant, but a big plate of french fries for dinner? I always thought of them as a side dish, even for vegetarians (if you are). No...well, corn, meat, salad, fried tofu or whatever? "And here's your entree, sir. Would you like a refill on your water?" "Oh, no thank you," he said, licking his lips as he picked up his knife and fork, "I don't want to miss out on any of this salty goodness!"
I had a plate of fries for dinner too. Of course, I was sitting in my office inside my restaurant and juat needed something in my stomach. I can't stand our food anymore. Staring at it and dealing with it on an intellectual level takes all the fun away. I ask the cooks to make me some fries and they're like let me make you something special, to which, I say something like, no, I want fries. Now.
Side of fries and a side salad are my go to options here if I'm out with people. Best part is when they want to go to a steak house. I never expect people to consider my preferences because I'm choosing to eat a specific way, so I can find a way to spend time with people and not be preachy at the same time. Food is food. Not my place to tell anyone how to eat it.
I dated a vegetarian once. Had honestly no idea what to feed her. She liked veggie Whoppers (Whopper minus meat, extra lettuce, this was thirty years ago) and Taco Bell bean burritos. I don't think I ever got around to telling her that Taco Bell was still using L-A-R-D that spells "lard" in their refried bean prep at the time.
Ugh, that modification sounds so unsatisfying, hahaha. You just have saucy vegetables at that point! Which... Saucy Vegetables is my number one single on my Hot Lettuce album. But! To each their own, I suppose. Now I just need to figure out a way to stop loving Taco Bell... Doesn't help there's one less than two minutes away.
During the hot and humid days of an Iowa summer, which Thursday was an example of, I eat pretty light. This order of French fries filled my needs. I promise you, it was a really big plate of fries. The other items of theirs I enjoy the most are... Bacon Cheeseburger 4-piece cod dinner Chilli And even just their salad bar is outstanding. Sadly it's disappeared in the cause of social distancing and making room for tables. I forgot to ask when/if it's coming back.
The cafeteria of the community college I went to had the most amazing fries ever. 30 years on, they're still among the most delicious I've ever had. Don't know what made them so special, but wow, just wow. And one last point about fries... In regards to fast food restaurants, I believe Dairy Queen has the best fries.
I've been around small town Iowa diners my whole life. Every time I'm at a new one I always order a burger and fries. I figure they can't goof that up. And no one ever has.
Yes, in conjunction with a milkshake or a Blizzard I think they are the best, as well as with fry sauce (although many DQ's don't have fry sauce unfortunately). However, McDonald's fries are my favorite for eating alone or with a full meal.
