Looking out at the cold September rain, resenting that summer left so fast, without even saying goodbye.
Quite forcefully and vindictively here. The recent rain has finally cooled us down from 100+ degrees to a balmy 75-80 degrees.
Definitely arrived here, today was the first day not to top 30c in a month, and we've hit 39 more than a few times.
Summer’s about more than just raised temperatures to me. Here in the NW we had hot days right enough, but the sun hasn’t shone much in the grand scheme of things.
its gotten super cold here... it was like in the 80's-90's last week. this week its dropped to the 50's/60's I've had to take out my sweaters and my jacket. anyways.... im on my "lunch break" and wrapped up in a blanket. also, im not feeling well. insert the "not sure if COVID (or change in season)" meme
I woke up early yesterday due to the asphyxiating smell of smoke. It was - and still is - very windy, so the arsonists got busy. Got up with a sandy-dry throat and a mild lightheadedness. Might have gotten slightly poisoned from inhaling all that smoke. I haven't slept since then, because I got early things to do. Unfathomably undesirable nonetheless unfortunately mandatory things. Things that need tons of research within a broken-phone of a bureaucratic system. The national mechanism is a hoax. I'm investigating a fucking legend. It's more likely to find proof of unicorns existing than of subsidisation in my department. Useless. Seems I'll have to play slave for 6 months at least in order to get my diploma. Or do I? Good news is that I just read somewhere that there indeed is an alternative. If I find official, paid work in my department and fill in 120 days of work, then I can skip the step of unpaid assistantship. Then "why don't you just get a job" you'll ask. Here come the bad news: There are none and I got no connections. I only found two job positions in the classifieds. One for director's assistant, for which I applied and still haven't got a reply and one for cinematographer, for which I dare not apply although it's a dream job, because I lack the experience. I don't think they'd want a fresh-out-of-school individual taking such important decisions. Furthermore, to be honest I couldn't. I don't know much about cameras. I need to get experience first but it seems quite challenging. Good news, or somewhat good news is that I found a person to take me in for assistantship. A pretty cool guy, a director at a small theater. He's just 3 years older than me, wears all stars, smokes the same cigarettes as me and drinks whiskey without restraint. Yes, my interview started at the theater, continued at a bar (not really a bar... it's a greek thing... looks like a cheap cafe) near the theater, at a table in the middle of the street and ended up in his home and I'll cut you there. No, we didn't sleep together. We won't. He's just whimsical like me. We just had a good time talking, drinking, talking and then I slept at his couch and left early in the morning. Yes, I know that I do things in an unorthodox way. I'm the chaotic type, what can I say? This is "somewhat" good news, because although I find getting experience in theatrical plays very exciting, I'm pretty... oblivious about them. I never go to plays. In truth, I want to create films. Work in a cinematic set. Nonetheless, I don't want to waste time and wait for a job to appear. Time waits for no one. I hope it's gonna be an exciting experience and perhaps fuel my interest in theater. Another problem is that the theaters are shut... yeah... covid regulations... no one knows when they are gonna operate again. Hm... Challenges and roadblocks. It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n' roll. Whatever happens, I'm gonna create films anyways. I've got a long road ahead of me, but I've got time. I think.
For some reason YouTube kept recommending vids of people trying those out, so I watched them like a dutiful slave to the all-knowing, all-powerful algorithm. There was much joyful crying so they must be doing something right. Although, I didn't search for any negative experiences.
I loved it. The mood, the vibe the acting the story everything. The ending as well. I'm currently watching Once upon a time by Tarantino and I honestly don't know why this guy even bothers pretending to be a director at this point.
I spent longer than I should have flicking through the channels on this interactive Bob Dylan song. It's very clever. http://video.bobdylan.com/
Season 1 might be the best season of any show ever... I bust out like 3 Matthew McConaughey quotes every day.
Gonna crash. Have a good night, everyone! Or day. Or afternoon. Or whatever time it is where you are.
I wonder how they did it? And yes, I'd never heard the song as I'm not much of a Dylan fan, but I like it too.
Any iPhone chaps out there? How the hell do you do voice-to-text on current iOS? Can it only be done through Siri now??
I just made a wallet/case for my phone. I was unsatisfied with the quality of those I could find on amazon (made from cheap PVC that won't last), so I bought the cheapest they had, both to use as a template and for the plastic case the phone sits in, and made my own from good quality leather.
Gorging on biscuits (cookies) and coffee... and doing a bit of writing on the side. What's your favourite biscuit (cookie)?
