    Writer Seeking New Home

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by MzSnowleopard, Sep 23, 2020.

Good afternoon everyone, I discovered this forum today. I'm looking for a new forum home.

I am a late 40s, woman striving to work on getting published. I have been a student of Institute for Writers, working on assignment 9 of 12. I also have several short stories and novels in the works. I need a community that is going to be helpful, offering constructive criticism and 'hopefully' people who will respect that writing styles are as different and varied as writers.

My first publishing project is an anthology of these pieces.

Welcome! I think you'll find this is a supportive place with more than a little wickedness to their sense of humor.

I hope you enjoy your stay.

I don't know but I'm on 100 posts or so at the moment and can blog. You should be able to access it before then. So it shouldn't be a long wait.

Thank you Kyle.. hey, post # 6... wooohoo. Seriously, I'll make certain to have quality posts not just word salad so I can get to the point for blogging. That's just cheesy.

How Do I Make a Blog Post?
First of all, you must have reached Member status in order to write blog posts. This means that you need to have made 20 posts on the forum and been a member for at least 2 weeks.

    Thank you Earp

Rosacrvx there is a story behind the avatar. I was told that the photographer was clicking to take the image when the snow leopard sneezed.

Hi @MzSnowleopard, and a slightly belated welcome from me...

along with a top-tip as you say up-thread that you are new to this forum software (c: -- if you use the "at" symbol before a user's moniker - @MzSnowleopard or @Hammer, that user will get an alert to say that they have been "mentioned", also if you click the "reply" link at the bottom of a post it will quote the post that you are replying to and notify the user to say that they have been quoted.

    awesome, thanks for the tips.

I have seen the @ a few times and was curious. Good to know how things work around here, especially the bits in the software.

Hi @MzSnowleopard , nice to see another anthology writer. I'm interested to know what genre and style you write in. :)

I'm one of those dreaded cross-genre writers. Yes, I dare to cross those lines. It's all about how balanced the genres are.
Can you have a sci-fi without adventure? A mystery without romance? Maybe but then stories, like characters, should be well rounded. 3-D if you will.

My anthology is basically a collection of my academic papers. A friend suggested I do this as a means to share my work with family and friends. It's not meant to be a 'break-in' work. I think he was also hinting at it being a confidence booster for me.
