Does anyone need a critique on their workshop story?

Discussion in 'Collaboration' started by Madman, Sep 25, 2020.

I'm looking to start this thread as a motivator for myself to read more stories in the workshop. And as a way for people to perhaps advertise stories that may already have several critiques but who want more.

Post a link to your story and I may read it and give a critique.

Who am I as a reader?
I am not an expert in the English language, but will do my best to give you a good critique. Keep in mind that I am a non-native speaker, though I have scored high marks on English tests. I love fast paced action and sci-fi, but I'm looking to branch out my reading to all kinds of fiction and perhaps non-fiction as well.

If others want to do the same thing as me, go ahead and use this thread if you wish, state who you are as a reader and let's get the ball rolling! More critiques in the workshop can only be a good thing for the community!

(I hope this doesn't break any forum rules, and that it is posted in the right section, if not, mods can move it at their leisure.)

Hmm. As a non-native speaker, would you like a challenge?

I'm not sure if it's your kind of thing. The language is a bit unconventional as well, which is why I call it a challenge. Not difficult though.

Hi! I have only one workshop post, and it is VERY old and has been inactive for a long time, but if you could give it your own critique that would be awesome!

I kind of use critiques as emotional support, given that it shows people are reading my work... is that weird?

    Feedback given!

Also, it's not that weird, using critiques as emotional support, but you should keep in mind that critiques don't always shed a favourable light on your work. It is important to view your work objectively when it's out there. But yeah I love my work as well.

Why not just go to the workshop?

I want to give people the opportunity to advertise that they're still looking for feedback on stories that may already have a lot of critiques or for people who have older stories who may still want feedback on them. And because when I go to the workshop I get overwhelmed by what I should read or not. I also tend to just focus on sci-fi when I'm in the workshop. Someone asking you to read their story makes it harder not to do it. This makes it easier for me.

And also for the heck of it. :)

    Did that answer your question?

Well, if you're feeling up to it, I have a rather long short story with no replies that I'm pretty stumped on what to do with. https://www.writingforums.org/threads/what-lines-the-walls-of-our-hearts-4-976.167044/

This is an interesting way to go about finding what to read for review, but you're doing them and participating in the forum. So more power to you I guess. Thanks for contributing.

Short bit of feedback given. I couldn't find much wrong with it.
