Never read it to be honest, Amazon is it? I'll have a look.

I'll be honest and admit that I've left my short writing alone for a while, too many things going on for me to give it the time it deserves.. One of the reasons I haven't been around this thread for some time. Mat seems to have disappeared too, not sure where, but I wish him well. Anyway, I just thought I'd let you guys know, although hopefully you didn't even realize I had gone. :D

It's definitely worth the read. Make sure you get the 2021 edition. Your thoughts and opinions are always enlightening. I hope you'll join our little Pushcart book club.

I totally noticed you and Mat hadn't been around. I miss you guys. But life happens, and I get that. I hope you'll return to short story writing. You definitely have some stories that are ready or close to ready for publication (at least from what I've read). I think the Pushcart book will be inspiring and give people a feel for several different publications. It could be exactly what you need to get back to things. Unless, of course, you've moved onto other writing projects. But you've got the talent and fresh ideas needed for short stories, too, so don't forget about them or us. We've still got a crew here being rejected. But I do really miss both you and Mat. Hope you're doing well, my friend.

I'm well, thanks for the ask. I have lot of stuff going on right now but won't forget the words, they're always there, and thanks for the comps. Won't be forgetting you. Not sure what happened to Mat, just haven't seen him around.
Anyway, I'll have to go have a look at this Pushcart...

    Oh, and, congrats ;)

Well, that's a shame, hope he's doing well in another writers forum at least.

@Zeppo595 : Don't give up. I don't know, but maybe write something else in the meantime to hone your skills? Keep us updated on it, if you do. Sometimes switching your attention to the future is more helpful than waiting for an axe to fall that be handed to you hilt first :)

143-day rejection from Voyage. They included the below text:

We really enjoyed "Summer," but we're sorry it isn’t the right fit for us right now. We did find much to admire in your work, though, and we hope you'll send us more to consider soon.

Does this sound like something they send out to everyone, or slightly more personalised?

I’m really hoping the latter. I really want to be published here- it’s a YA online magazine, and there aren’t many. YA is my preferred genre. I read Voyage regularly. My very first published story was in Youth Imagination, and Voyage is similar but they publish one story a week whereas YI is two per month. Also whilst YI pay $10 a story, Voyage pays $200! I think I’ll send them something else today, I have plenty in the bank! It’s just a shame the response is slow (and I do realise other places can be even slower) because I am really keen on this place (if that wasn’t obvious) but if it takes them 6 months to respond then it might be years before I get anywhere with them- if at all.

I think it sounds like a higher tier form rejection. I would definitely try them again and maybe even mentioned in your cover letter that they said they admired your last story and hoped to see more from you. Places don't usually say they hope to see another story from you unless they mean it. So, your last submission must have showed promise.

You can always look up rejections. I don't see a listing for this place, but they do have quite a number of places to crosscheck your rejections. It might be useful in the future. But if you look around you'll see similarly worded rejections from other places marked as higher tier. Here's the link. https://www.rejectionwiki.com/index.php?title=Literary_Journals_and_Rejections#V
