I invited all the discarded military families, so we had a grand old party over at my place haha. At least it burned through left overs. Even though the ham wasnt ready until late...

I envy you. RI is burning with Covid again, so no festivities here. And with me working with the public and my wife being a nurse, we're damn near radioactive to civilians.

I haven't had sourdough bread in decades. Despite the supposed extra time at home, I'm too busy to mess around making it myself and my hosts consider Wonderbread to be tough, dry, and overly flavored. Shokupan in the toaster oven it is.

Mrs. A and I are having the hard talk about whether to get a turkey for ChristmasGiving with her dad and brother. The virus situation isn't good here, but... well, too many details. And I'm poor this year and a 10lb turkey runs something like $60-80 bucks.

I use dried crushed red pepper - Penzey's California medium hot.

More like a fra diavolo then. Depends on who you talk to... Italian semantics are the worst!

Anejo, Mezcal, Cocci rosa, fresh lemon and grapefruit juices smoked with rosemary and applewood chips. That's a drink.

Just spaghetti and cheese for one since I had to have my darling, old dog put to sleep on friday. I missing cooking for her but more than anything I hate the silence...all animal lovers worst nightmare, having to say good bye to their best friend. But a lot of people loved her and cried when I told them - even my vet cried. She was adored, worshipped and spoilt rotten.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my cat a while ago and still miss her; a good pet is a reals companion.

I have commented before on how I would have happily joined your dog at the trough, and ironically I cooked beef-cheeks today which used to be something that the butcher virtually gave you "for the dog", but has now become a bit of a delicacy! Took three and a half hours to cook, but worth the wait.

Thank you and sorry to hear about your kitty.
It broke my hear losing her as she'd been with me 18 years and been so loyal and devoted. You never seem to get over losing them because they are family.

I am so sorry for your loss - we had to put our 13 year old kitty Buttons to sleep at the end of May (because F*UCK 2020) due to kidney failure, and it was so tough. Sending you love and sympathy from a fellow pet parent. :friend:

Meatball day! Sauce has about another 30mins to simmer, and then it's feedbag time!

That's a really messy way to eat meatballs, but I guess it protects your tie.

No more ties. Mask wearing proved to be constrictive enough.

And I'm off today, so I look homeless.

I know what's meant when a dish includes things like "wilted arugula," but from a marketing standpoint it always sounds like something you left in the vegetable drawer too long.

    Chicken rice soup, homemade.
I cut (boneless) chicken thighs into squares. Potatoes, celery, carrots, with some vegetable broth.
Made enough for two days worth of dinner, because I like to make food last.

Love soup season. I made a courgette soup yesterday, unfortunately the local shop only had "low fat" creme-fraiche so it has kind of curdled and will go down the toilet.

I also made a huge shepherd's pie which is just divine so will have to save a portion for the gods...certainly filled no.1 son and no.1 daughter-in-law up after a long journey - perfect comfort food (c:

Did some crock pot beef and mushroom stew (maitake, shitake) on a Guinness beer base. Good stuff.

    Homemade poke bowl!

Tuna (with a light sear since not sushi grade), seasoned sushi rice, edamame, scallions, avocado, sliced onions, cucumber, chopped nori sesame seeds and a creamy sweet-spicy chili sauce.

The slight sear won't help you much in that case... haha.
