How you should see poetry and how to flow well with it .

Discussion in 'The Craft of Writing Poetry' started by Darics Gold, Feb 19, 2021.

You should see poetry as a meal prepared with figures of speech and rhymes / idioms , Made with the fire of imaginations and emotions .

Your mood will mostly affect what you write , Example you will likely not flow very well with topics like " Life is love " When you are very sad or upset so all you need to do is to tune your mood to what suits your poem topic .

I think good poetry forces its own meter. Some poetry flows easily, taking the reader sedately to the end. Other poetry stops you, makes you reflect on what was said, forces you to contribute something of yourself and your own understanding of the world.

Some poetry works well when read silently, others (notably Shakespeare) cries out to be read aloud and heard spoken.

But in all cases, the success of a poem, once it finds its cadence and meter, hangs on what the reader takes away from it.
