Good morning to all- Much as I dislike most technology more involved than a hammer, I must admit that I value being able to easily and quickly store work I've done and then access it later. Desktop is a good thing. It's nice to be able to jump right back into an essay I had started and then left hanging because I had a lock-up of word generation. My current collection of essays is On Growing Old and I do believe it is getting ready for some sort of publication. It has been long enough in maturing, I think. I don't know if I'll try to work through the publisher of my last book or if I'll do another e-book. Both have advantages, I have found. But in an hour or so I am loading up and heading to the creek for some fishing- it has been too cold here lately to do much on the water fun things. When I get back, I will see about taking up another assignment for a fishing rod company. I find that time on the water messing around is very conducive to writing later. What do you all do to get the juices following? good day to all- Ed
Oddly for myself it was the unfortunate curse of insomnia from which, at least, my stories had the good fortune to be cast. Of late though, I spend the dark before dawn time wired to podcasts, so.. change of habit has curtailed creativity. I've taken to editing old projects while I wait for the good ideas spirits to manifest in the daylight. You've minded me to take a trek round the local lake (pond (when does a pond become a lake?)).
Good evening to all- SethLoki- I expect having insomnia is quite unpleasant. I confess, being unable to sleep is a condition that I have never experienced. I don't think I have missed much of a night's sleep in my entire life. I suppose this comes from the saintly life I've led and a clear conscience. Perhaps I just tire easily, though. Of all the things I am not good at, I am actually quite good at sleeping. And a pond becomes a lake when it is too big to be properly fished except from a boat. Unless you're in Illinois or Kansas- then a lake is a bit of water big enough to float a duck. I do enjoy being retired from teaching so I can live on my own schedule. This means when an idea bites, I can get up and write it down even if it's late at night or early-early in the morning. good night to all- Ed
Minded by draw of sunshine and this thread to connect with said pond only a couple of hundred yards from house (see up). Daughter came along as company and this setting presented itself on arrival. Definitely a pond though by your measure.
Seth- Lovely water. This is in the UK? I know nothing about the countryside of England except from the pictures and videos I have seen- lovely place by the looks of it. If I can't get to the water on a regular basis- either fishing, kayaking or sailing- I start to desicate and get awfully grumpy. Or at least, that's what I've been told. Please tell me more about the area where you live- I'm curious. Ed
