I like this album: "Heir to Despair." It's hard to categorize. I suppose it's technically Black Metal, but it wavers between so many styles. It sounds mostly like Enslaved, I think, but there's strange bouts of it jumping between Amon Amarth, Abbath, and the folk metal of Eluveitie with these weird ELO choruses like Obscura. There's even bursts of Stam1na. It sounds curiously European. To me the cover is amazingly funny. Brutal!
I fell upon this song exactly when I should have and I don't know how many times I've listened to it so far. Very good music and what a style. I haven't yet listened to most of their songs since I like to take my time with new bands, but another one that spoke to me in a different mood:
Absolutely love that song, very powerful. It's how I found them as well, they've got a great style to them.
Literary allusions abound. You can tell they condition. But seriously, have you ever looked at Carcass's lyrics? Weirdly poetic. Works of art Painted black Magniloquent Bleeding dark Monotonous palate Murky spectrum Grimly unlimited Food for thought So prolific In contrasting shades Forcely fed Abstraction, so choking So provocative A canvas to paint To degenerate Dark reflections Degeneration A canvas to paint To denigrate Dark reflections Of dark foul light
