You need to meet the requirements of 14 days membership and twenty posts in order to post a new thread in that forum. This is to weed out spammers and forum abusers. Please check out the forum rules in the top bar under Information.

    Hello all.

When I browse the forum without logging in, the forum is fine. But after I log in, the forum becomes painfully slow to browse. Has anyone experienced this problem?

I logged out and cleared cache but the problem persists.

It sounds like its probably an issue with your browser... have you tried a hard reset (where you turn the computer off with the power button instead of from the start menu)... sometimes misbehaving updates can cause that kind of thing

not a pro, yet very curious
I am aware you are making changes because of some recent technical problems, so I don't know if this is a related bug or not, but I noticed that now under "Recent Posts" (on the right hand-side panel) instead of the avatar of the last user who posted, it appears the avatar of the thread creator. If this is intentional, then disregard this notice.

Yep, we're aware of that one, too. Don't think it's intentional.

I dunno about anyone else, but I cant send PMs since this technical thing came up. You guys probably know but since I didn't read it on this thread I just thought best safe than sorry to mention it.

we've got more bugs than a tramps trousers currently... with that one its my experience that if you refresh the browser and try again it sometimes works. I think its to do compatibility between our version of PHP and what the host expected us to be on... Daniel is working on it

Issues we know about in regard to the server migration

    Double posts
    Problems sending Pms
The avatar issue on recent posts
No one can start a thread in the contest forum (I have a work around for that)

I appreciate this is a frustrating time for everyone but we are doing everything we can to resolve the problems, and it would really help if you can only report bugs that are not already on this list

Thought I'd write here rather than start a new thread - I haven't been able to reply to private conversations. Have I reached some quota of messages and I need to delete stuff from my inbox? Have I incurred some penalty I know nothing about? Or is this a bug that needs fixing?

Would be good to know and have it sorted!

Yeah I figured that might have been it, but then someone else has been able to send PMs to me - I just can't start any or reply to it. I felt like if it was a migration problem, there would be some consistency to the technical issue, eg. no one can send PMs, or you can start one but can't reply to it etc.

There is likely a consistency to it, but the parameter in question likely very specific and difficult to decipher. I'm sure @NWOPD will be working on it soon.

I think (or rather Daniel thinks and I agree ) that most of the issues are to do with an incompatibility between the version of PHP we are using and that running natively on the new server... for anyone who thinks huh whats PHP... I think i smoked some of that once.:D... PHP is a scripting language... it stands for Hypertext Preprocessor, ... I would guess its called PHP to avoid confusion with HTPP (hyper text printing protocol)

Daniel's on the case but I don't know off the top of my head how long it will take to fix

A question about the poetry contest: is it going to skip a month? I know the thread can't be created but I was wondering if the prompt had been selected.

I'll take care of it today in the evening. It is just going to push to starting mid month instead of beginning of the month. It will go forward at that schedule regularly here on after.

I can’t start a new thread in the poetry section. Tried the refresh thing but nothing.

I've downgraded our PHP version and made some other changes. I'm no longer able to replicate the double post issue, I can successfully send/receive PMs, and make test posts in the workshop. That doesn't mean the issues are solved necessarily so continued bug reports are appreciated.

@ruskaya @Steve Rivers @Madman @Mckk can you guys, or anyone else who's had the PM issue, try again now and report back if the issue is persistent for you?

@OurJud would you mind trying again and updating me on if you are able to sucessfully this time?
