    Small caps for file types?

Discussion in 'Revision and Editing' started by SapereAude, May 14, 2021.

I'm not sure where this topic belongs, but I hope it's okay here.

In general text, words that you want to put in all caps (such as, perhaps, street names) should be set in small caps for print. But what about when writing about computers? What I generally recall is that mentions of file extension types (such as .DOCX, .JPG, or .EPUB) are in all caps but ... should they be set in normal caps, or small caps?

Good question. I have no idea. Perhaps you could look into already published books and see what's the "norm".
