Website says dessert wine, so almost certainly fortified. It's from Michigan, so that would make sense.
The moment when you write a scene in which two of your Mcs have a dark conversation and one of them is eating an apple, closely followed by the moment you realise after short consideration that this somehow takes away a lot of seriousness, especially when you are tempted to write "he crunches away on another piece". God knows where the idea with the apple came from in the first place. Note to self: No more apples, smoothies or equally healthy stuff in this story !
TMW you've finished the first of many plasma pen removal sessions on a tattoo, and the area feels like it's been skinned off. Kinda burns and put some neosporin on it afterward. Guess it will be a long and slow process burning out the ink, but at least it will be gone.
I mean, you could use that seriously. To show the character isn't taking it as serious may itself be a serious point. It could also be justified by context.
Yes, you're right, and it is a good idea. The problem is, my characters weren't even to blame. Everyone was very serious until I gave them this apple. I realized lately that I seem to have invented a new form of procrastination. I sit down and write, but because the scene is quite difficult, I let my characters do more or less random things before I eventually come to the point. I guess this was an extreme case of it. I've finished the scene by now, but I had to put it away first, because (probably to the great annoyance of my characters ) I was the one who couldn’t stay serious .
The moment when you write a scene where character A asks character B to deliver a message to character C. Followed by the moment when you write the scene where B arrives home and fails to do so. Not out of a hidden sinister motive but because you the writer forgot completely about it while writing all the drama her homecoming caused. No wonder all of my MCs have such a hard time to come out of this story alive .
Sounds like a case of possibly needing to do a bit of rereading, or a case of unintentional brilliance. Not sure which, so you decide.
That moment when you briefly forget which season you're transitioning in to. Should I be putting the space heater away and taking the fans out, or vice versa?
I dunno. The apple eater could crunch on it in a particularly ominous way, and the way he throws away the core can be Highly Significant.
He sank his teeth into the apple like a vampire sinking fangs into a juicy neck. She savored the strawberry smoothie as she would an enemy's life blood. She fiercely stabbed the kale with silver tines.
Tmw you discover your new favorite artist through his design on a book cover. I cant add pictures from my phone, unfortunately, but the cover on the reprint of Their Eyes Were Watching God was made by Patrick Dougher. not my favorite coverfor this book, but the artwork is pretty on its own, and the rest of his work on his website is breath taking
That moment when a friend manages to put a genuinely positive spin on some issues you're going through. I deal with a lot of toxic positivity, so it's nice when someone can find a real silver lining. Nope, not saying more. Sorry.
Toxic positivity. I don't know whether you made that up yourself or not, but I am officially stealing it from you, so thanks.
I think Toxic Positivity describes better the dangers of ignoring reality like the Pollyanna Principle does, I like this term a lot better. I am also stealing it from you!
