Hello, all! I’ve been lurking here for a little while, and now the time has come to reveal myself. Despite my thread title, I am not a man of wealth, and I have a fondness for tasteless humor. I’ve been around for a middling number of years, and I’ve laid the soles of my boots to waste. I’m more of a homebody than a rolling stone, but I’m trying hard to change that and enjoy my life. And writing is an important part of that! I’ve always been bad about finishing things, but I’m forcing myself to become more disciplined this year. I jump around a lot between genres and styles (classic ADD creativity), but I’ve had the most success so far as a humorist. I haven’t cracked the big publications like The New Yorker and McSweeney’s, but I’ve gotten several pieces in the second-tier pubs over the past two years. I’d say I’m a strong AA or AAA prospect right now, looking for a shot at the majors. Other than humor, I write a little bit of everything (often with some humor mixed in). Sci-fi, fantasy, and horror short fiction, poetry, flash fiction with literary aspirations, songs, the occasional personal essay. Why box myself in? I’ve got ideas for a few novels, too, and really want to get cracking on one of them. Might do NaNoWriMo this year, or I might focus on finishing up a bunch of short stories that have been burning in my brain for a while. I’ll see what feels right. I’m mostly looking for critiques (because it’s so hard to find a good critique partner in the real world), so expect to see me in the workshop once I’m eligible. And you’ll definitely see my in the rejections thread, as I rack up my share of those (plus the occasional that makes it all worthwhile). I’m looking forward to getting to know you all!
Hearty welcome and looking forward to seeing your work. If it's anything like your intro, we have treats in store.
