    How to spell "Ghoul"?

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by Adam Bolander, Jul 24, 2021.

The sequel to Henry Rider: Clown Hunter, which I'm working on now, has a ghoul in it. But I can't decide how I should spell it. In the first book, "clown" is spelled "klaon", so would it be right for me to do the same with ghoul? Maybe spell it "guul" or something?

Please use Goolie, Adam. Pretty please? It's British slang for someone's testicles!:superlaugh:

You could use ghul or ghūl, which would be especially appropriate since it’s the original Arabic word for the creature.
