I just don't care about the Olympic Games. After the NFL, the UFC, and the NBA, I simply don't have the time.
Interestingly enough, I'm quite the opposite. I like the Olympics because of the international competition and all the interesting sports that pop up. I tend to care about the winter Olympics far more than the summer, but both are enjoyable. Regular sports have gotten pretty stale to me lately. I used to be a huge NHL and NFL follower, as well as sports gambler, but I've since lost interest almost entirely. Olympics is a nice chunk of time to get my sports interests out of the way while generally rooting for the smaller countries just to see them win something. This year, however, I don't have TV and I'm just too busy to really sit down and enjoy it. I'll wait for the next winter one instead, and just review the highlights of this year later.
As a resident of the invaded nation, I and around 80% of my neighbors wish the International Organization of Criminals had just respected our territorial sovereignty and stayed the hell away. But who are we to challenge nations like Nike and Reebok?
Just happened to turn on the TV in time to see the Duet Artistic Swimming. Gold was won by a mother-daughter team. You don't see that every day.
USA wrestling earned 9 medals in Tokyo, including 3 gold. I follow college wrestling so I'm familiar with most our competitors on the men's side. In terms of utter domination, Susaki Yui from Japan showed the world there isn't a woman on Earth (in her weight class) fit to step on the mat with her. She scored 41 points against her 4 opponents, they scored 0 against her.
